Removing pollen filter cover rivets

That little screw can be levered out with a small flathead screwdriver. Meanwhile get some trim removal tools like this with a load of fasteners so if you break them you can put some fresh ones in.
The amount I’ve broke is tons so this little kit is a life saver.

I don't know if it's a Clio/French thing but I do not have this sort of nonsense problem on any other cars with plastic rivets.

Smashing the middle through with a screwdriver and hammer is far more fun though

Well mine are somehow fucked because it rounded before turning much at all. One was already rounded by someone else so I took care with this one and the material was so soft.

Just need to grow and pair and pull it out mate. Genuinely doesn't need anymore thought to it

Yeah, this must have been the worst pop rivets ever fitted to one of these.
There's no way it was popping out. Levered it from all angles then just had to destroy it with a sharp screwdriver. Still needed a good pull with pliers to get the centre bit out, pain in the c**t.
Now replaced with something more appropriate that can actually just be unscrewed, who'd have thought.

Oh and FWIW, the old pollen filter was absolutely rank so the annoyance was worthwhile. 
This is stunning. You could have just twatted a screwdriver through the centre of it too.
Did you fit the pollen filter the right way round?

Fear not, it'll be the same on the passenger side so I can get more practice at destroying these.

I replaced all of those crap clips with these Subaru ones someone on here recommended a while back, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402694887307 they work 100x better than the Renault ones, although I thought it was expensive when I paid £8 for a bag of 10, I'm not sure I'd pay nearly £20 now.

Cheers I'll try the screw first on the other side.
The kit mentioned further back actually had better clips that were an appropriate size so I'll stick the same in that side.
