did any 172 Cups come without fron splitter?

i'm looking at buying a 172 Cup, it was registered in Jan 2004 and has done 14k miles. It doesn't have a front splitter on and when i asked about it, he said he got it like that and when he asked Renault, they said some didn't have them on?

also, it has aparently had a minor shunt that needed a new wing and a door, which were fitted by renault?

price is £6950 ? does this all sound ok?

thanks

All Cup's "should" have come with a splitter.

Many, if not all, were delivered to the dealers with the splitter sitting on the back seat waiting to be fitted. It's not uncommon to find that they weren't fitted and/or went walkabouts at the dealers.

Yep some dealers forgot to fit them they were delivered in the car on PDI some dealers forgot to attache them. Owners never noticed so they were unnoticed.

A few dealers had/have loads left after they have forgotten to attach them.

They weren't attached from the factory since they catch on the transports.

the spilters never came fitted to the cars, the dealers were supposed to fit them before the customers took the car, but alot weren't, its an expensive part to replace (not joking, is over £130 for a piece of plastic!!!) so negotiate the price down

is the damage recorded CAT C or CAT D??? if it is registered as damaged hen its not worth anywhere near that price

i never thought of asking about an HPI check, i'll ask him, cheers for the info... very much appreciated :approve:

oh...

if it is a Cat D or C on an HPi check, what is the value of it now then? assuming the miles are correct?

ta very much

 blimmey !!!!

i'm only really interested in it due to the miles and the fact it's quite near me, it's in edinburgh and i'm in scotland too

i've seen a 172 Cup with CC for sale on this site, but from reading it, he's down in Brighton ???

i'm willing to travel for the right car, anybody know if its a really decent car? advert looks good !

Agree with fred , way over priced if its cat c or d . That might be the reason there's no front splitter as well due to the accident damage . It might have had more damage than just the wing and door and they aren't being upfront with the full extent of what was replaced .

Tbh mate there's plenty of cups about so i'd look at others that haven't been damaged .

The top one on the link to autotrader looks ok , and only £6,500 plus its in Edinburgh :) You'd have to see it in the flesh tho' obviously to see if its as good as its description .

also....

the car i'm asking about is the one advertised with CC for £7200. It turns out it hasn't got CC, he said autotrader made a mistake with the advert :S and he's now said via email that he's dropped the price to £6950. The other one i'm asking about (advert on this site) is the one above that, also with CC

it's a long journey for me to go down to brighton (i live in Fort William) but i will if it's a genuine car and it's as good as it sounds

anybody know the owner ?

i think i'll leave the one i originally asked about, they say you should walk away if you're not 100% happy, so thats what i'll do.... why risk buying a lemon

i'm off work for 2 days, so i'll ring that one up in Edinburgh from the link posted, see if i can go down and have a butchers at it

cheers for the advice, i've already had one 172 Cup that i sold last year and it's really another 172 cup that i'm after.... the woman owner of the 6.5k one in edunburgh will be getting a call tomorrow !

That is a VERY long way to go if you are unsure

I'd try and source something closer
