360 or Wii ??

Moving away from the usual 360 vs PS3, Planning on getting a games console for Xmas, as I havent had one for well over a year. There are some good packages out on the 360, with some good looking games GOW, PES6, COD3 etc. However, I read a review of the Wii in T3 yesterday, and it looks pretty slick!

Which would you buy ? I have BB so may wish to take advantage of the online gaming....not looking for a slanging match, i know it may be hard to give a comparison as both are not yet out, but give it a go ! :approve:
 
get a wii, if you're 12.

if u haven't got an hdtv then i'd think about the wii. something a bit different i suppose. nintendo games never appealed to me tbh, and it aint hd.

360 is more for serious gamers
 
Would be a Wii everytime for me, for several reasons:

- The Wii is cheaper.
- The Wii looks better.
- The Wii is looking like evolutionary gaming.
- The Wii represents innovation.
- I'm not looking for the same old games with nicer graphics, I want gaming depth.
- Nintendo have the backing of many developers this time around, and I think the developers themselves are esteemed about the Wii's new gaming dimension.
- I want to cum all over Zelda's little face.
- I can't wait to play on the old school classics from Nes->GC that are inclusive.
- I want something different.

Basically people go on about "360 it's more powerful" but seriously who gives a f00k about more power, the Xbox was a lot more powerful than the PS2, did it equate to a lot? Nope. If the gaming industry is just going to continue along the lines of rehashing bad games year on year for a new uber-console, then it speaks for a boring future.

Wii is where it's at, and I hope it works for Nofriendo, they could use the break!
 
If you fancy both then get both.

I usually end up buy all of them eventually. The exception will be the PS3 which doesn't offer more than the 360 aside from a higher price tag. I expect I will get a Wii to compliment my 360.

Pity that Nintendo didn't get together with MS and just release their controller and Wii games on the 360. That would have been the end of Sony.

I dont have a HD TV. I would not consider myself a serious gamer, just want something i can pick up and play, then leave for a 2 weeks, and still be able to pick it up and play it. I am not someone who sits up every hour god sends tossing off over GOW, for example.

That's a single reason out of a dozen that I can think of, and sure by itself isn't cause to rush to the shops, but it is a consideration if it's going to sit in my lounge with my AV stuff.

Sony are doing a damn fine job of pressing the self-destruct button themselves, their gaming division has already lost $1.6 billion so far since April. Then theres the fact they are making a $300 loss on each PS3 they sell.

As much as I hate Sony these days, I still think their entry to the gaming world has been a good thing, competition drives the market, and makes it more down to the consumer to choose. Certainly be a shame if only MS had any major play in the sector, in fact it would be catastrophic.

Wii = good family/group fun, but come on waving your hand around all night is gonna get boring? I just wanna kick back on the sofa with some beers and blow some f*****s head off not jump around the living room doing bowling motions.

As for being able to download the old classics - who cares, them games have been and gone things have moved on - old games give good memories why spoil it by playing them today and thinking my god this looks sh*t and wasn't as fun as i remember it!

Why would i want to be blowing some f*****s head off using some old skool controller, when I can be waving my arms around using motion detection while bowling? Or firing a bow? Or fishing? Or playing tennis? Aiming a gun? Kicking a ball?

Why does gaming have to be slobbing out in a chair drinking beer on your lonesome in some dark room shouting "BOOM HEADSHOT", thats what's giving gaming the stigma it still suffers from 30 years on.

Gaming has moved on, why would I want to play GTA 13 thinking wow new graphics, same old bullshit?

I got a 360 and I'm getting a wii, I've got one on pre-order, I think it's a fantastic concept ans it looks to have some rather good games for it on release date...Red steel is the one I'm getting with it....it's more of a get ya mates round have a few beers and piss about type of console...and I think Nintendo have been real clever to do something totally different...

I'm under no illusion about it, I probably won't be using the Wii as much as the 360 but it does look like fun...
 
360 unless you want to look like a 'tard playing your wii swinging arms around in a gay fashion in front of the telly
 
if you're eager to go fishing or play tennis, why not go do the real thing? its a lot cheaper and i'm fairly sure that its a better experience. Just a thought whilst u sit you slob out in ya chair playing virtual w4nking on your new fangled nunchuck.

When playing games I wanna relax, if I wanted to move around like that I'd actually go bowling or play tennis!

It doesn't have to be a dark room or alone (4 mates playing evo?, jesus imagine u all had to kick the ball the virtual ball!).

forget the stigma! I've been watching films the same way for years why? because it works. Imagaine watching the tour de France on TV but you had to peddle to watch it? sod that! might be a new way of doing things but doesn't mean it works!
 
haha some of these comments are rather amusing! deep down I think it's just Nintendo trying to get kids to do some excercise instead of sitting on thier arse doing nothing...have you seen the Wario game? it's like an athletics thing eg: to do the squats your supposed to put the controller on your head and actually do the squat yourself....

you don't have to use the neew controller tho the old gamecube controllers are compatible too...
 
I really like the look of the Wii but dont think id buy one myself.... im gonna go either PS3 or 360 i think.

Tho do admire nintendo for wot they done with the Wii, Christ when i was a young un i had to make do with the blooming "grandstand" computer thingy if anyone remembers that!!

exactly. fair play. i'm not nintendo bashing, its good that they are trying to get KIDS to do some exercise. But i'm not a kid and if i want exercise i'll go play 5-a-side or walk the dog.

I'm sure they are a lot of fun when your pissed with your mates, but i just can't see it working for me personally
 
I'm going to go for a Wii later next year, looks like great fun with a group of mates, then its counter strike for when I want to sit in my dark room having a few ha

thats the key word! everyone always gets involved in these types of conversations giving it "this one is better than that one" but when it comes down to it, it's all personal opinon and untill you give it a go your never going to know 100% for sure...
 
My mate's getting a wii and I'll definitely be having some fun on it i reckon, would do my tits in having to swing around all the time though

haha I know what you mean, good job I've got some old gamecube controllers, plus I don't think you have to swing it about quite as much as the advert/vids show tho, they are just "over" doing it to get the point across...
 
definatly the 360 cus the wii looks like its for parents to buy their 10 year old kids! it looks nothin compared to the 360!

See now you're taking things to literally, the point im getting at is the Wii offers unparalleled diversity over anything that's ever existed in the market, anything currently, and anything on the horizon.

I'm not saying games should replace real life activity, far from it. On a controller certain games are just bland (bowling/tennis etc). What Wii offers is a better way of getting involved in such games - and if kids/people are getting involved in new types of activites, then im all for it. Maybe they'll enjoy bowling so much it will become a new hobby...it opens doors.

Also people mentioning not wanting to swing around, you don't have to bounce off walls to play a game, it's simple arm movements that allows interaction. The other point being this is tried and tested, how many modern arcades machines do you see now that utilise similar technology to get you involved - it's more fun that pressing a stick and hitting a button.

I'll always love CSS Clart, It's a good blast when theres nothing to do, but it's by no means my staple diet - I get bored of it like I get bored of any other game. Hopefully the Wii will offer something no other game can do.

Personally Im just looking forward to Zelda, looks immense.
 
I am getting a Wii as I am a techo geek. I love the idea and all the retro games. I may grow tired of it but we shall see. Plus it has MArio and Monkey Ball!
 
This is where having a younger brother comes in handy, he gets the wii, I get the 360. Get to play both.
 
Youtube Wii and you will know if you want one or not pretty quickly, some pretty funny vids already posted of Yanks playing Wii Sports.

I got a ps2 but havent played it since i got the xbox.
A more powerfull machine is always better.
! of my fav game is burnout 4, Fantastic on the xbox, i then brought a version for my Ds and i was just dull cos the effects arnt as intense.
Fook knows wot burnout 4 is like on the 360! :D
