std headlamps insted of xenon ? possible ?

hi guys and gals i just bought myslf a 172 02 plate front end damage, it had xenons fitted as standard but at the mo i cant aford to replace them so is it a direct plug in and play with standard lamps? or like the chap whos tring to sell me xenons says ill have all sorts of problems like indicators sticking on etc, also if i buy standard lamps do they have the ballest connector at the bottom so in future i could make them xenons ?

Nope, you'll be fine using normal halogen clusters.

so im safe to order standard lamps for now, on the understanding that i cant fit the ballast box to them?
any one eles know who the seller is of these lamps ?

Both lamps are interchangable on mk2's the wiring is the same

Wiring is 100% the same between the headlights, the ballast pack is part of the xenon cluster so i've no idea what he means by that. The only connections are the main light one and the plug for the adjuster.

If you didn't want to admit it was a write off when you come to sell, standard headlights will give it away.

You will have to fit the complete headlight units, the HID bulbs have a different fitting to the xenon/halogen dipped beam bulbs and,...........

Here is an irony,


The HID reflectors will not work with ordinary Halogen/Xenon bulbs, because the filaments are on the wrong axis, so it probably wont pass a beam test for the MOT.

The good news is the wiring up to the high voltage converters, is the same as are the adjustment motors wiring.
