4K rattle...

Gonna jack the car up 2moro and get underneath, see if i can sort this blasted 4k rattle out.

a few peeps have posted that its rattling cables and stuff, but it there anything else it could be?

im gonna try and cable tie anything thats loose nice and securely (making sure it wont melt on the exhaust obv.

any help anyone has wud be gd...

definately is the mid section of your exhaust. time for replacement or cat back stainless system. worth it? YES

new to these cars myself so apols if this is a well known first port of call, but could it be the gearbox mount?

mine's also rattling and i've been told it's a common problem and is likely to be this mount having worked loose, allowing the exhaust to knock against whatever it knocks against (!)

Not realy the exhaust mid section suffers rom the 4k problem loads.

A broken mount causes the exhaust to smack the rack and subframe and is a knokcing and any time you put your foot down or let off not just at 4k.

If you have a knocking sound when giving it some beans in 1st or 2nd gear this could be lower engine mount or gearbox mount. Check out the meets section as well chap as bristol people are having a meet on tuesday night, i will be there and can have a listen to your car (i work for a local renault dealer)

Check the heat shields, they can touch, so make sure its nicely bent out the way. Check the leads to the lambda sensors are out the way too. If non of these chack centre section

I've got this problem. So far replaced the centre section and backbox. Still rattles at 4000revs. Presume it must be the baffles in the CAT that have gone?

it wasnt, i sold the car.

PAH! When my car rattles, i just get a new one, lol.
