182 to ph quick

  tiTTy & SV650
Thinking of freeing up some cash and chopping in my 04 182. Had it since new, its a good un (not a Friday afternoon car!)

I'm really tempted to go for a ph1 172, love the front of them. Would need a ph2 rear bumper and colour coding of course. And would have to learn to live with the inferior *ahem sorry interior*...

Only thing that puts me off is, once you've got a good RS I think you'd best keep it cause chances are the next one you get will be a dog.

Thoughts on a swap?

I'm thinking I can get upto £8k and spend upto £4k

Other things tempting me:

205gti Mi16
306gti6

damn it why does it always have to be French?! :banghead:

i've recently gone the other way, from a Ph1 172 to a 182.

my ph1 172 was by far the superior car. Faster, more responsive, better looking, better handling, cheaper tyres...

i want it back!

There are a lot of good ones about, my old one was perfect but needed a few hundred quid spending on it due to wear and tear.

lol I can see your argument, dont wanna buy a crap one though. Some poorly run in slow ass example.

My car makes book power

looking to buy a house, dont really want the cup so much its not that different IMO to what I've got inc colour...

Quite fancy a silver ph quick or a flame red...

if ur bored of the 182 an want to get rid i think the next best car has to be honda type r don't think i would get another clio but def go for the mag f1:)

i've had a 182 company car and personally owned a ph-1 172.

ph-1 172 for me all day long.....

buy the 203bhp one for sale on here!
if it wasnt for the dash i'd consider one next year, i just cant stand it"

seriously, you have to drive one to appreciate the comments people make about them.

I made a costly mistake changing to a 182, even though the 182 is mint :)

will try and get a shot in one.

FCS will have me checking them all out, went to see one locally today it as a shed!

well i wouldn't down grade i would keep the one u have but if ur trying to free some money up for an house then yeah

dont see it as a downgrade, its the same bang for half the buck.

My previous car was a 12 year old 205gti, I'm even considering that again. Cars age doesnt bother me at all, it's all about the fun factor.

The ph1 172 definetly has more road presence, there was one in Kirkcaldy for £4995 and from the quick once over I gave it it looked really good.

If only I could afford the insurance I would prob have went for it.

i think u have made ur mind up already lol all the clios r nice cars even the 1.2 so which ever one u get they r all good
but i think u will want ur 182 back if u sell it

Rory! uptill now you sounded sensible. The front of that phase 1 looks like a garden shed.

If you're tired of your 182, you're tired of life. Please come to your senses

If your thinking about investing in property and need the cash then if it was me in your situation I would sell the car and get a cheap round around until you can afford something faster/sportier.

Just my opinion of course :)

dont need to take it that far cause tbh but this will pay off a large chunk of loan and free up about £150 a month + my pay rise = another £300 a month = mortgage payment

leaving enough for bills n other s**t like nurburgring trips!

i think the key issue is reliability as you mentioned - would be a gamble and you may end up regretting if you pick a bad one. whats 4k anyhow............. :-)

yeh, but profits for that area in development terms are poor. So 80k tomo doesn't yield much 5yrs down the line.

ph1's certainly have more road presence... the ph2 is a bit boy racerish imo. Ive got a ph1 172 and a ph2 with nav.... prefer the ph1.... plus people don't see you coming ;)
