You need to mount them to somehting strong but regardless you need to mount them higher and better. Have a read here

Mot doens't check for its correct construction only that there not fraid.my car passed its MOT with the harness's wrapped round the strutbrace...its safe
Put it this way it CANNOT have been made by Renault and passed Uk safety checked and been sold with mount where they are now it woulnd't pass FIA approval either for entry into a race series..
