What could it be?....

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Took my car into the garage thinking that i needed my front brake pads and disks changed, coz when im braking i can hear a crunching sound and squeek towards the end of the braking....

But just got a call, saying my brakes are fine!... hmm

what else could cause this?? they are still working on it, but im anxious to know what it could be....

any ideas?

Hummm, have you been brecking very hard recently? ahve you noticed any difference in how your breaks perform?

Could be glazed pads from breaking hard? Could be cheap pads instead of offical ones?

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Nope, haven't need to brake harshly or hard lately... so can't be that...

When i took it to the garage, they still couldn't figure out what was wrong, not even in 7 hrs! They changed the pads without my consent aswell. But i still paid the £55 for the pads, but there is still the same noise, but a LOT quieter, but still has the noise, what advice can u give me guys?

For a start mate, you shouldn't have accepted the fact that they changed your pads without consent! I personally would have given them a complete rocketing for that, and been on to trading standards - they can't do ANYTHING to your car without first asking.

Secondly, £55 is quite steep for pads - you can pick them up for like £30 for a decent set - fitting them is an hour job, max.

I'd take your pads off, and check that there is LOADS of copper grease on the back of the shim - that would help get rid of the squeeling.

I am not brave enough to take the pads off myself tho.

Lol! I know where you're coming from.

I'd ask around on here, cause I'm not 100% tech savvey - got my dad to help me when I did it! There are plenty of bods on here that'll talk you through it. It really isn't that difficult - undo a couple of bolts and the front callipers come off.

Garage just rang me regarding the grinding and squeeking sound coming from my car when braking.

They have found the problem, and my rear brakes are leaking brake fluidy slightly, so my rear cylinders etc need changing. The mechanic said that it would usually cost £60 +vat per side, but he has cut the price down to £35 + vat per side. so all in all i am paying £82.25. Reason why he has charged me about £50 less is because of that i was unaware about them changing my pads in the first place, even tho i paid for them.

So is this all good?

lmao you dont have rear brakes hahahaha your really getting the piss taken out of you

Edit: We have a cable handbrake so hes chatting s**t to you! So no brake fluid near the rear

Go nuts and smash things

Its just like me saying your flux capcitators gone... You dont actually have 1 nor do they exist on your car

As said in the other thread. the valves are £14 to £16 depends what type you have then realy you should fit new shoes so there abaout the same 9you get both sides of shoes though for £14~16 wheras the pistosn are each side.

Seems a good price realy £20 a side for labour its say 45 mins work so not bad plus they need to bleed the brakes a bit.

I cant believe he thinks that the rear brakes are solely for handbrake...

Makes you wonder why they put discs on the back of some models, maybe they're more affected by gravity??? LOL

Some people are all too confident on the wrong subjects. :)

:(

Grinding sound is still f**king there.

Going to take it back to 'Fairway autotyres' in Hatfield, and let them sort it out.

Demanding for it to be done free, coz they have cahnged the rear hydraulic cylinders and the front pads for £130, and still hasn't cured the problem.

And the main reason why i got them to look at my brakes was coz of the grinding sound.

Argh.. i am so annoyed.

Brilliant cat. that'll be fab. But knowing my car, it will not make a sound!

It only does it form time to time... usually during the first few braking sessions when i drive the car.

I am taking it back to the garage to ask wehther they can sort it out for free Saturday morning, unless u have a better suggestion?

  FIAT PANDA 100HP!!!!
£130? thought they were doing it for £82 somethin? where is the noise coming from haz? what kind of noise exactly, a squeaking, a grinding, a knocking?

It was £130 for the front pads and the hydraulic cylinders.

it sounds like it is coming from the front,

its a grinding sound.. and a squeeking sound together.. but the grinding stops, and the squeeking stops 1 second after the grinding stops

Are you sure it's just not the surface rust being cleared off of the discs ??
How long do you leave the car for between driving it ??

I have no idea Cat, during the meet in southend, jump in my car, and i'll let u hear it, (if it lets u hear it!)

Well every morning when i leave home for work, it makes the noise, and leave it for 3 hrs then go for lunch and drive it again, and it still has the noise.

might not be your brakes, have they checked your shocks etc?

I have no idea what they checked, i just them to check whatever. Going to take it into the same garage tomorrow to let them have another go. And im going to state, i am not paying for any parts.

CABLE handbrake?

hahaha you r****d. thats seperate. you have hydraulic lines running to the back to operate the Brake cylinders on the drums. I strongly suggest you don't give technical advice when you clearly don't know what your talking about.
