Funniest Thing You Have Been Told By A Dealer...

  182 Cup, (2nd one)
Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

A couple of years back- there are no 182 cups. 182 cups are only track cars we don't cover those under warrenty

Jain with her 182 when the alarm kept going off at all hours.....

18-year-old trainee at Reno 'volunteered' to take her 182 home in an effort to see if the alarm would go off outside his house.

Ok. So that wouldn't involve picking up three mates, tear-arsing around some Maccy D's and putting about 50 miles on the clock? Tempting, but no, thanks...

Took car in to have tweeters replaced a few weeks after buying it, as stereo had no treble...

"We've replaced all the door speakers for you, stereo works fine now"

First, since when was there anything wrong with the door speakers?

Second, why have you turned the treble up to full, and the base as low as it goes on the head unit then?

Sir! you're front pads need replacing as they are now grinding to the discs! Ok no problem...but I thought you replaced those 3 weeks ago when I brought it in? Ah no Sir we replaced the rear ones, because they were more worn than the front! So why didn't you replace the front ones liked I asked before they started to grind the discs???? End result reno paid out for the front discs!

fpml @ this thread!!!

Mine is actually on a positive note....

Ah sir, your service is complete, but you need new rear axle bushes, as they are split, but we will cover it under warranty, as your car still has 1 month warranty left on it.....

Me - Ah right, cool (meanwhile, laughing to myself as the car spent 2 years of its life on -60mm Pi springs, and was currently on their ramps wearing a full apex suspension kit)

....the bird behind the counter was fit though, maybe she wanted some ;)

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

Phoned a local dealer after a price for a service for the Trophy and was asked what size engine it had!!

Also told me that all 182's use semi-synthetic oil!!

Needless to say didn't take the Trophy there!!

PMSL - that's a classic! Would have been even better if it had been in the middle of August or something!

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

Four days after dropping my 172 off for a bumper respray under guarantee

Me: I wanted to know if my car was ready to pick up
Renault: Have you dropped it off with us? We can't find any record of receiving it.
Me: Yes, you gave me a Modus courtesy car.
Renault: I will call you back.

An hour later:

Renault: We have found your car but it has not been sprayed
Me: So I have to keep driving the Modus for another week?
Renault: Yep....

Result was good though, they brought the car to my work, gave me a bottle of wine and a big bunch of flowers for wife. The guy who drove it over had to spoil it though but adding, "These cars are great to drive, I surprised and Audi A6 on the way over".

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

I took my car into Renault the other week to book it in for a 24k service.

The guy behind the desk told me that my car would be out of warranty know, confused I asked him why and he proceeded to list all of the things that I have done to the car ie,

Twin Exhaust, Alloys, Lowering, Body Kit, Seats. I turned around to him and told him that the car was standard, and his response was "There is no way Renault would do that to a clio it looks dreadfull". Oh how I laughed when I walked out and got back into my car after telling the service manger that he should really look at employing staff who have not just arrived from the zoo.

PMSL, what a t**t!! Which dealers was that??

Me - "I need one of the aircon pipes that goes the full length of the car, from the battery area to the boot area, it's for a Mk1 Clio V6, can you fax me the parts sheet please"

Dude - "They're the same on all Clios"

Me - "All Clios have their aircon compressor in the boot?"

Dude - "I don't know"

Me - "Bye."

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

lol is it possible ?

how would you be paying for the car??

me: with cash i have saved.

Yep its possibl.e
Dealers don't like cash sales finance is profile hence why tney always try sell it to you. Hence why the often offer you cashbach as it just a bigger loan.
Mine is actually on a positive note....

They don't care they claim the money back from Renault. They arn't actually paying.

Unliky they were split enough to need changing its a popular trick to get some cash out of people and to cover themselves.
Also told me that all 182's use semi-synthetic oil!!

Needless to say didn't take the Trophy there!!
Whats wrong with semi synthetic? Next you'll be saying it needs 5-40

Renault spec say its fine so long as the oils of the quality listed here

Renault recomended fluids/amounts/grades to be used.

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

bought my 182 from stealership in middlesbrough, i asked as part of the deal that it was serviced before i picked it up. salesman assured me it had just been done, produced the service history book and pointed to the example of how to fill each of the service details in and told me that was when it was serviced. i pointed this out to him so he took me to the car and lifted the bonnet up and told me he knew it had def been serviced as the engine was clean. when asked why then was the oil filter old and dirty he said this was due to the mechanic having dirty hands when servicing it.

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

Me "Hi id like a oil filter please"

Them "for what car?"

Me "its a clio 172"

Them "can i have the full vin and registaration number from your car to see what oil filter it needs"

Me "its a Clio 172, arent they all the same"

Them "ok what engine size is that?"

Re: Best comment from your local Renault dealer ever

"when do you want too book it in?"

That's after waiting a week for the first book-in , only for them to find that the washer jets need replacing ( which is what i booked it in for ) , and that's what i asked them too do, but they never had any in stock!

Me, going to the Parts Desk at Fiat and the bloke asking what car I had. "Punto GT Turbo" I responded and he flatly said that Fiat had never made a turbo version.

When I laughed and said they did, he got stern and stressed that they hadn't. Blokey's mate at the side of him sniggered and told him what the GT actually was.

Tool. And this is in the parts section. Dear god. :dapprove:

D.

I had the same response from the idiots at Simonstone Fiat, Bristol when I took my GT in for a diagnostics.

Conversation went like this:

Me: Can I book my punto in for a diagnostic check please.

Service dude:What engine size is it?

Me: 1400 turbo mate

Service dude: {messes about on computer} There doesn't appear to be a 1400cc punto. Are you sure its a 1400?

Me: Yes, positive

Service dude: Theres a 1400 Uno. Are you sure you don't have an Uno sir?

Me: Its definately a punto, look, its that black one outside the door.

Service dude: Oh right, it has the Uno engine in it then?

Me: No, its a punto GT - 1400 Turbo. Exactly the same as when it left the factory.

Service dude: Ah, a GT. I thought they were 1600cc.

Me: Sod this, I'm going.

Service dude: Do you still want the diagnostic sir.....

Me: Stop being silly. Bye

My experience of Vauxhall mechanics is as equally horrifying.

wen i was looking for my 172 went in my local dealer.

me: i am after a 172 or 182, would you be able to get me one?

salesman: sorry we dont supply them

me: do you not sell clio?

Salesman: yes but we do not sell the renaultsports

me: so are you not going to get any in?

Salesman: i will put your name on the list and let you know wen we get one

6 mths on still had no phone call.......even tho they have a cup in atm!

I recently had some trouble with my brakes making a bit of noise (squeeling)

The bloke told me the problem was my alloys, letting more dirt into the brakes than the standard wheels, due to them being big and few spokes. lol

One of my gas struts in the tailgate went recently too and the "technician" said it was due to the vibrations from the sub, damaging the internals of the strut.

pmsl!!

After taking ownership of my Trophy

Me: The front splitter is missing, can you order me one please?

Salesman: No, the Trophy doesn't come with a splitter

Me: Hmm, all the ones I've looked at have them

Salesman: No, they cause drag by catching air and slow you down, thats why the Trophy doesnt have them

Me: I'm sure they DO come with a front splitter it's a 182!

Salesman: Ok, I can sort you one out they'll only be about 20 quid or something....HAHAHA £146

I had a good one this week. Speaking to a sales guy at a Renault main dealers:

Sales guy: "So your car is a 182 Trophy on an 05 plate with 32 and a half thoasand miles on the clock. What colour is it?"
Me: "Red, they were all red."
Sales guy: "Oh yeah, they were weren't they".

  A Beautiful R32
I had A few problems sorting out my extended warranty, so I went into a Renault Dealer to get to the point, if you catch my drift. First thing that made me laugh was when the dealer said "Reanult don't do extended warranties, so you must have got mixed up"...
Me: "Erm, no, here have a look at my receipt"... which clearly says three year extended warranty on it.

He types something into his computer and says "No. Your extended warranty is not on the system"... No s**t why do you thinnk I'm here, for the pleasure of you're company? He then says, "You'll need to contact the Renault Dealer you bought your car from". Me: "Why, aren't you one??"... etc etc..

So anyway I phoned the dealer I bought my car from and they said, no worries fax us the reciept. So I got the Renault Dealers I was in to fax the other Reanult Dealers the receipt. At this point a really friendly dealer intervened and said no worries I'll do that for you. So while we were waiting for a confirmation reply we got chatting about the RS cars in the dealership. Had a look around an R26 and an R27, he was very nice and said if you want a drive, just give me a call... cool, cheers mate... Just about to leave when...

"Hello sir, are you interested in this R27 then" - Some dickhead dealer totally highjacks my conversation with the nice dealer.
"If you want a drive in it sir, I reccomend you go out with **** he'll show you how it drives!" and he points to another dealer, totally ignoring the original dealer who is stood right next to me. Now I'm thinking, you're a arsehole mate. I'm kinda annoyed now, because of how rude this bloke is, and ask him how the 197 compares to my 182. "Well Sir, let me put it this way, my Honda Accord will stuff your 182 on the straights and around the corners, but the 197 will stuff both of them..." So obviously I said, so you drive a type R then? No he says, type S. So I snigger a little bit at this point and glance at the nice dealer who looks no end of embarassed and say "thanks mate, I'll give you a call at some stage" shake his hand and walk out sniggering.

I'm never going to buy a brand new reno after reading this thread, what a bunch of cowboys. Honda for me next I think.
It often gets no better.
My GF: yes thats probably the cause, Do you think you could possibly fix it?
Service: yes iths the rubber door seal it will be 1/2 to diagnose the problem (£45) half hour to fix it (£45) and £22 parts.

Ye but to be fair the guy knows its a common problem but cannot say that just incase it isn't and they've then oricialy binded themserlevs to fixing the problem for X amount its like having a faulty start on a Clio its the tdc most the time so say £30 but if that isn't it when they chnage it and its infact ECU wiring tc then they arn't going to do that for the same cost.
