What engine is fitted to a Clio SI

The vehicle in question is a mk2 V reg 1999 Clio SI. It is a 1.6 but what I want to know is if this model is 8v or 16v?

The previous owner told my girlfriend it was a 16v but we have just been told by someone else it is a 8v.

I had one. good little car i had no problems with it.

1.6 8v is 90BHP

1.4 16v is 98BHP
