Re: 70% complete 172RWD!

Hydraulic sounds good
need a cable operated handbrake for mot - hydraulic on its own wont pass as it needs another means of stopping if all the hyraulics were to fail.
rally cars all need to be road legal, and of course they all have hydraulic handbrakes - back in the day a little trick of the trade was to simply drill a hole through the outer brake pads on the rear link a handbrake cable up to them and use them with a seperate lever inside the car
nowadays they are just fitted with spot calipers that sit seperate to the main caliper and just provide cable operated handbrake

Re: 70% complete 172RWD!

maybe you could lash up some rear calliper off of some other car (something with big vented discs obviously) then just use them for handbrke

Re: 70% complete 172RWD!

Just read all 24 pages and now my eyes hurt LOL!! :dead:

Just wondering what ECU you are running? Also 9mpg it much be overfueling like a MOFO as it should still be fairly good on fuel off boost? I'll be a bit gutted if I get 9mpg from mine

What are your plans for remap if/when you go for more boost? I am wondering how much power my engine will take with forged pistons and rods....

mine was about the same before my rebuild. It is a standard ecu with the bbpt/fastchips map.

but its getting there slowley:D
coming along great mate.
can i just offer one constructive critiscism though - the whole job you have done on the car is top job you could beleive that it was done in the factory - but i cant help thinking the bit of wood for your fuse box is letting the side down?
