Strange Engine Noise (172 Cup)

Not had my cup long and never been near another so have nothing to comapre it too. But i cant help thinking the noise mines making isnt right, its got a bit of a deep wine to it, more than just a little wine while on throttle, its really quite loud even while on tickover and moving about on the drive at low speed. Almost sounds like it has an electric motor rather than a petrol engine. Any ideas?

i have noticed this on my 182 mate my firends 182 does is aswell i think it muight me the engine dies the pitch of the whine pick up when you acclerate mine is most obvious on the dirve when manouvering

Tbh i dont think i can hear it when i boot it, really just while slow manouvering. With my experience of other cars it almost sounds like a loud power steering or AC pump but i dont have AC and it does it even while not steering. Maybe its just me, at the moment the cup is completely standard, whereas all my other cars have been modded. Maybe i need some mods to drown out the sound of a standard engine.

Also, maybe an unrelated issue but my induction noise has got quite a bit quieter over the last 2 weeks. Its a standard airbox with standard filter which the previous owner has drilled (about 20x 12mm holes on the cold side). The induction noise was immense and had people staring when i drove past but now it almost sounds standard again??

dunno about indunction noise mate i cant hear f all when i booting it sounds like a bike with the de-cat miltek and simota induction lol throttle bodies coming soon wouldnt worry but the noise nature of the car ps you can but my simota aero form if you want more noise im selling in a month or so

Cheers dude, maybe worth me seeing if i can capture the whining sound on my mobile and sticking up a vid. PM me when your selling the Simota as i do like them even though i've heard mixed reviews (ie loss of power), but i'm sure its nothing a few well placed CAF's couldnt sort out.

mine was kind-of like this. I thought it was just normal for these french engines... SBV heard it just once and knew it was the dephaser pully. Sorted it shortly after, and silent again (well as silent as it'll ever be).

Ooh i see, any gen on the dephaser pulley? Something i can do myself or is it a garage job?

selling the simota as soon as throttle bodies go on in the next month or so yer i ran a cold air feed from the passenger fog light hole.

I may well be interested then depending on funds as i'm selling up and buying a new house on May 31st.
