I don't quite see how it's fraud unless a claim is made... Even if he said he lives in rural wales (I assume it's cheap to insure cars there) and paid £1000 a year, it would still be £1000 in the insurers pocket providing no claims were made.

Edit: Just re-read, am I right in assuming you're insuring the car under her name for the sake of reduced premiums?

Baically shes the main driver... im a named driver... its not fraud... im insured to drive it end of... shes lives like 20 mins from my house so its not like 300 miles away thats just stupid..

And yes it to reduce the cost... and yes i can afford to drive it and insure it even tho its alot...

Just that quote is harsh...

The point is, the car is being kept at your address. The insurance company thinks it's being kept at your sisters address. I'm not questioning whether you can drive it or not (the fact that you evidently drive it more than your sister is bad enough) your saving money by lying to the insurance company. That is fraud

Roflmao - so all that taking the pee out of others because they pay more than you was you having a wind up and not telling the truth at all ??

The insurance isn't in your name & your only a named driver on it, plus it's not even parked at the address of the policy holder.

Comedy gold tbh !

Basically, you own the car, but your insurance is in your sisters name!

That is not right. If you can't afford the quote - don't pay it. Either sell the car or move?

And the best part is the insurance company know he's the person who drives it the most and are waiting, rubbing their hands, for him to have a prang just so they can refuse to pay out!

Yeah mate, the car being insurance at a different address than were you live is fraud, no matter which way u look at it, you dont live at the address where the insurance states, which means its not insured when you park it at your house

= technically not insured!

if u cant afford the insurance (or if your too cheap to pay the premium) then time to sell

simple

Ok what part it doesnt make me insured while its park out side my house... for example... my sis will drive it to her mates house who lives say in bromley.... someone hits the car is she insured... ermmmi think so... so she comes to my house parks out side... is she insured... durrrr of course... so what difference does it make where its park... the car is insured and im insured to drive it... OK im only a named driver... im still LEGALLY alowed to drive it so... mmmm...the only thing im doing wrong is driving it slightly more than my sis... how exactly will i get caught... if i have a crash in the car im insured... end of

If you hit someone else or go knock for knock you'll have to claim you nonce.

It's insurance fronting because you're obtaining a lower premium by making the car appear at less of a risk. Clearly the postcode where you live and the car is kept is seen as more of a risk than the one you've told them the car is kept. This is fronting/mis representing/fraud whatever way you look at it. Thats even before the subject of you being a named driver yet driving it more often than your sister who you've admitted lives 20minutes drive from where the vehicle is kept.

Yer i will only have to claim if its my fault... if its not i claim on theres... Also i dont appericate you calling me a nonce you Fag:)

Either way looks like your fronting will be coming to an end now you can't use your sisters alternative postcode. Time to look big and pay up or sell the car. Have fun eh ;)

I guess so...

I didn't even pay as much as £1800 insuring my GT turbo when I passed my test!! Age helps but not living in London obviously must make a massive difference.

He's commiting insurance fraud and admitting it on an open forum....

Don't drop the soap now! ;)

Right, let's make this simple for you.

You own the car?

It's insured in your Sister's name with you as a named driver?

Therefore, you have committed fraud by reducing the inherent risk.

If you were to insure it yourself and put your sister as a named driver, that would be fine and would probably reduce your premium. A named driver is only an occasional user, which you aren't. You've admitted to driving it more than her. Don't think you're fooling the insurance company. They know what you're doing and will likely refuse to pay out if you stack it. It's not worth the risk, especially as other people could potentially be involved.

Grow a pair and pay up, do it properly, you'll appreciate it in the long run. Trust me.

Loving this thread, lets all take a leaf out of millwall4lifes (innit) book and insure our cars as being kept in the depths of scotland. Insurance company will never find out, and we'll save a fortune.

Yeah, I could claim to be a 28 year old father of one, employed home owner with 9 years NCD.

Oh wait, I already am.....

:rasp:
