wot have i done now? please help

just coming off the motorway today, when i heard something scraping on the floor, so pulled over to have a look at wot it was and found that there was a cover dragging on the floor, not the big tray a smaller long one more towards the front so got that out the way and this disc thing fell out. any ideas wot it is and is the cover important? i realy need to go and visit family tomorow so need car on the road asap.

any help would be great

rite, just bin out to have a look took the cover off that was hanging down, dont think thats much to worry about.

i can see a cam cover but it is on the engine ok, (on airbox and battery side of engine) but i cant see the other side the engine mount is in the way. im guessing its come from that side?

Its took off the cam end to set the timing on the cambelt. Theres 2, a big one (which is that one) and a smaller one. All you have to do is pop it back on. Take your engine cover off and pop it in the hole. you can see it fitted in this pic near the middle. You dont want any dirt/etc going in there!!

thanks for your relpy, the cover in the pic is on the car. the one i found if exactly the same diameter as the one in the pic. is there one on the other side i take it?

thanks for your help guys! my guess is that it was lost when the cambelt was done. because the one on the car looks nice and clean compaired to the one i found
