how can you tell if your car is mapped?

  Italian 3.2 V6
hey,

wen i bought my car, all the extras that came with it (30mm drop, stealth exhaust, cup spoiler) were all unknown until i got home and read thru the paper work properly... all bonuses that were not mentioned. but what got me thinking was i also found a super-chips brochure in all the paper work, there is no receipt to say it has been done tho, but there is a dyno chart etc? just wondered if there was anyway of knowing if it has been done or not? also my cuz thinks it may of been since i aint far behind him when we are giving it beans and he is in his 147 GTA..

through the revs when i put my foot down the car feels although it picks up quite abit more after 4500 rpm all the way to 7200 rpm, is this normal? or could this be an indication to say its been remapped?

thanks

a remapped car usually has a raised limiter to around 7400/500rpm

the clio is well known for having a kick @5,000 when it "comes on cam"

mapped cars are less pronounced, the map makes the kick less noticable

can you post up your dyno plot?

cant tell from that to be honest! reading doesn't go past 6800. they only quick way to tell is to jump into your car and take it to the limiter (when warm lol)

looks like you car is producing good power anyhow, presuming they are readings based on wheel horsepower? if so 147.6bhp atw is good, but also confused by the obs hp reading of 156.9 hmm

anyhow here is my car mapping results before cam fitment

^^ agreed, most maps increase the limiter to aroung 7800, and standard is 7250 so doesn't look like it to me

im gona take it out shortly, warm here up then see what she goes to as i hardly ever go to limiter (only hit it twice i think) so i dont really no :S lol. i will check and find out tho :)

  Italian 3.2 V6
lol, i only use 99 from tescos :D

ryt ok i been out, hit the limiter 3 or 4 times in 3rd/4th gear and it only went to what i would say is 7250 as said above, so i guess it hasnt been remampped since it only revs to that. but does this mean its a good running 172? from the dyno saying it produces 147.6bhp atw, also is the smoother the curve reading the better i take it, or not?

good result that fella, see thread a couple below this where someone has just got 135 :)

does look a very strange readout though, old school rr maybe lol

ok cool well thanks for all the input, especially u m8! much apprieciated!

135bhp!! ouch :( !

  182
cool, now worries :) 135 aint bad tbh, above 140 generally a good example

my original 172 made 134 at the wheels (164 fly) and that was rapid, never had a prob in it with any other 1*2, was quicker than a friends cup in a straight line even if we changed cars

looks like you have a peach :D

I've never taken my new 182 Cup beyond 7000rpm as it doesn't pull hard after there...other night though I rung it round to the limiter in 2nd and 3rd and the rev counter was showing almost 8000rpm...car is standard as far as I am aware...

It still has a fair step at 5000rpm as well...hmmm...

If he'd have wanted to he'd have left you. The GTA is one of the fast fwd cars ever, they do 60 in 6 and a ton in about 14 secs iirc. Ok they weigh a bit more than the clio, but 250bhp standard isn't to be sniffed at.
