Ouch

You don't need a monthly contract to get an iPhone 3G. There are three models to choose from:

  • iPhone 3G 8GB - £342.50
  • iPhone 3G S 16GB - £440.40
  • iPhone 3G S 32GB - £538.30

Upgrade

If you're already with us on Pay Monthly, you can upgrade to the new iPhone 3G when it's time to upgrade. It's usually the last month of your contract, but you can check at My O2

£185 then for the white 16gb 3gs, and £34 per month, + an unlimited text bolt on.

1. it's stupidly expensive
2. text & minute bundles are pish.
3. too expensive!

It looks like I'll miss out on this new gen of iPhone as I cannot upgrade until January 2010 and by then I will await the new model next summer.

TBH the 3.0 software update will be enough for me - nothing I'll really miss out on bar the video features. The 3.0 software update should tide me over till upgrade time about 9months away!

Anybody have anything on the Tomtom feature? Will this (& the attachment) be compatible with the current 3G?

02 are c***s... fact! kinda wish i had gone through cpwh and taken their insurance that i could cancel the contract anytime after 6 months... could then do this a whole lot easier, will be speaking to o2 tomorrow, joke is i have 3 iphones on contract with them so im gonna kick up a fuss and shout then if that dont work put my mum on the phone lol!

apple must know as should o2 they would sell a s**t load of phones if they said ok if you start a fresh 18month contract again you can upgrade just like at&t are doing or like they did last year...

£29.38 x 6 = £176.28
16gb 3GS = £87.11 (£44.05 per month)

Total = £263.39

I'll not do that though as I don't think the new features are worth the extra cost over my 3G iPhone. I'll await the end of my contract and by then it'll only be 6 months until the next generation handset is available and I'm sure that will have a more drastic redesign.

I wouldn't do this....I did this with the 2G was a pain the the ass got the phone 2 months before uk release but everytime a new update came out i had to wait for a jailbreak unlock to use it in the UK with it being locked to AT&T

not worth it IMO

Gutted, they are like $90 on the apple website!! for a 3G!! FFS i want one now!!

Orange apparently may get it in October!!

Wise thinking. I'm on an sim only contract so I'd benefit from buying 3G S PAYG and using my o2 sim. I've not had a new or even new-ish phone since the W810i so am looking to treat myself a bit. Should still work out cheaper than getting a new-customer contract, just no wi-fi hotspot use which I can live with.

You can drop the contract down after 9 months. I did it a few months ago with mine.

Eh ... not sure. I just gave them a call a month before I was due to hit 9 months and true to their word, when 9 months arrived the tariff dropped.

REgarding upgrade, Meh, I've never seen a contract through. Was bored of my N95 Black, Phoned Orange they said it was £260 to end my Contract So paid that in full, Envirophoned the N95 for £140, And took out a Iphone 3g8GB, Free phone, £42.50 a month for 500mins, Unlimited net and unlimited texts.

Worked out I poaid £120 for a 8gb I phone, in the end, Would have cost me more for an Ipod Touch I was going to buy anyway so.

Ok thanks....Ill give them a call tomorrow.

Maybe a dumb question (this is the first contract phone ive had in years)


With me dropping the tariff i don't have to renew back to 18 months do i ? :S:o ...i still have the remaining 6 months left?

I can end the contract by paying the remaining of the 6 months left off to opt out?
