You can't upgrade until you would normally be allowed an upgrade. So after 15/18 months.
you sure about that?
Bad news from o2's twitter feed:
You will be able to upgrade to an iPhone 3GS when you're eligible for an upgrade
To tether you need an Internet Tethering Bolt On: 3Gb for £14.68/month, 10Gb for £29.36/month. Both include The Cloud's Wi-Fi.
If you would like to leave your contract early you will need to pay extra - call us up and we can explain how much in each specific case
Really considering an iPhone, shame contract doesn't run out till January
It would cost me £263 to upgrade to a 16gb 3GS
It would cost me £263 to upgrade to a 16gb 3GS
How so?
I have 6 months left on my contract and would drop my tariff to £29.38.
£29.38 x 6 = £176.28
16gb 3GS = £87.11 (£44.05 per month)
Total = £263.39
I'll not do that though as I don't think the new features are worth the extra cost over my 3G iPhone. I'll await the end of my contract and by then it'll only be 6 months until the next generation handset is available and I'm sure that will have a more drastic redesign.
will a USA Iphone work in the UK?
I wouldn't do this....I did this with the 2G was a pain the the ass got the phone 2 months before uk release but everytime a new update came out i had to wait for a jailbreak unlock to use it in the UK with it being locked to AT&T
not worth it IMO

It'll need cracking, Riz.

I got my 3G on release....when can you drop the tariff to £29.38?
Now
You can drop the contract down after 9 months. I did it a few months ago with mine.
Excellent Thanks.....can this be done over the net ?
The first bit, where have you been for the last 3 hours? Its all wrong. Its plastic again. No light up logo.
You can do all the bits you want to do with 3.0 which is available for you, for free, from next weds on iTunes. You press "update" and it will do it all for you.

Eh ... not sure. I just gave them a call a month before I was due to hit 9 months and true to their word, when 9 months arrived the tariff dropped.
