engine conversion?

Car  clio mk1 phase 3
thinking of doing an engine conversion because of money issues (not enough to buy new car)

what engines (within reason) would be a straight swap into a 1.2 8v mk1 phase 3?

and how much would it cost roughly for all the engine gearbox loom ecu and what ever else i need

Ph1 172s are cheaper than chips these days, no excuse not to have a 2.0ltr anymore lol

Just insurance, which is good as there would be so many more chav'd up 172's around if every 17 year old could insure them :)

Depends how committed to the cause you are lol, i consider myself a true enthusiast cos i fork out £2300 a year on insurance :p ...happily

at, not with ;)

yeh works out cheaper on insurance cause they only class it as the engine not the full car lol its quite strange lol... my cars a 1.2 8v at mo but put the 1.8 16v init and ill be paying about £1800 ish a year... then i decided to see how much insurance was on a proper valver and the outcome............... £3200ish!!!

C1J 1.4 turbo out of the Renault 5 GTT is a straight swap, easier as a diy conversion than 16v as well, 16v has alot more electrics to contend with, C1J runs off 3 wires :D

just emailed a guy on ebay... hes got a valver in red, wants £300 for the car, the cars done 136k and the engine has done 98k (as he got it off his mate) is 98k a reasonable mileage for these engines?

the only reason id do a conversion is to NOT declair it if i couldnt insure the real thing, wouldnt be doing a conversion then declairing it.

my mate pays £200 a year to insure his 1 litre corsa that some how wheelspins in 4th gear as it overtakes everything in its path lol

Tell your mate he is awesome!! And the reason we all pay stupid insurance prices.
