Hi guys well sadly after the Phase 1 was written off i had to find somthing to bridge the gap until i get myself sorted with finances and what not so i thought the 106 GTi would bridge this gap...

Its a 1999 V plate GTi with 77k on the clock.

As always comments and critcisms welcome :D

The only thing that i could fault about the 106 was that the seats were a little too worn (the Alacantra on the 1*2's unfortunatley sufferes the same fate so i done somthing about it....)

Byt anyway, a real credit to the previous owners as the car has really been taken care of bar a few minor things, but that wont take much to sort out, but for what i paid for it and the age of it im pretty delighted on the whole....!

Cheers Guys...!

The only two mods were the callipers being a different colour and an induction kit which as it stands im unaware of the make, the callipers will be going black i think, im not too keen on the red?

Looks good mate.

How does it compare to the ph1, performance and handling etc?

Yes id say not red matey, doesn't go well with the red paint, dark silver?

Indy kit, thinking enclosed?

Performance wise its not as quick as a 172 (in my opinion)

Although its very keen to shift up the gears and it does so with absolutley no hesitation, its very revvy and id say although your in a better driving position (than the Clio as most will agree its a little inert) it really feels like a wee go kart...!

I do love the wee thing but i did prefer my 172. In terms of fun per pounds, i genuinley dont think theres anything else on the market in terms of cheap motoring without that is spending anout 5-700 on a decent Phase 1, all ofcourse imo

Evo reckon it will touch 60mph in 7.4 even though Peugeot state 7.7 either way its quick and cheap enough to run until im in a better financial position :o

Not decided yet Russ, i think tyres are the first port of call as although the ones that are on it are new id say you would be better with slippers lol :o

There 120bhp from the 1600cc 16v but because they only weigh 935kg's they produce 130bhp/ton

Thanks alot guys id recommend them to anyone whose looking to maybe get a cheap-ish performance hatch :o

Nice mate, not take you back to your VTS days seeing as it's basically the same car? Manifold and exhaust that bad boy up.

As above Justin matey :)

In some ways it does yeah but it really is a hoot to drive mate, it reminds me of why i loved them in the first place, there are absolutley no toys and no mod cons, its raw driving at minimal cost!

Ill keep this until the paint fades (or i write it off, whichever comes first lol) :o

Nicely done sir, good choice on colour too.

Those calipers are a gash colour against the paintwork, I'd go anthracite-type colour I think...

Aye Ally im thinking just gloss black, was never really a fan of coloured callipers unless they were Brembos/Wilwoods etc :(

Tidy! You modifying it at all or just running it till it dies/you get bored?

After seeing what some of the lads have done over at 106OC it has gave me a bit of insight into it...

Possibly, an exhaust definatley as its running a VTS at the moment and the GTI has a hidden back box where as the VTS doesnt :o
