Removing the std Steering Wheel...

  Iceberg 172
Hi everyone.

Sorry for all the questions!

Could someone quickly tell me how to remove the std steering wheel?

I'm wondering whether it's something I want to do or just take it to K Tec for them to do what with the air bag and everything!

With the proper Boss my airbag light won't stay on will it???

And it's not an MOT failure to remove the airbag is it???

Sorry for all the noob sounding questions!

1, No it will not fail a Mot with a airbag removed (they dont test it as not all cars have airbags)
2, Yes airbag light will come on with a boss kit, but you need to fit a resistor to stop it coming on.

3, Disconnect battery before removing the wheel. at the back of the wheel on each side there is 1 metal clip, push it inwards iirc and it will unhook, then do the other side and it should come off. when you have the middle of the wheel off you need a Big torx bit thinkg its torx25 not 100% sure, and undo the bolt in the middle. that will have the whole wheel off for you.

Thanking you very much sir! Much appreciated!

I just spoke to K Tec and he said not to worry about disconnecting the battery which I was a bit shocked about! I will though just to be safe!

Well 300mm Momo Team, Boss and Resistor have now been ordered, hopefully they'll be here before the weekend!!!!

Ignore what k-tec said ,

Many on here have had the issue were it has gone up in flames, im one of them, as it happend to me 2weeks ago were the horn wire touched the metal of the boss kit and up it went, lucky there was snow about otherwise car would have gone up in flames. i forgot to disconnect battery . so i strongly adivse you disconnect it

this is how to stop the airbag light being on the dash, u need to do this to both the airbag wires, i used 3.9 ohm resistors

i was at arms length disconnecting the airbag even with the battery connected. gloves on and a pair of googles.lol. i took no chances as i like having skin on my hands and face.

disconnect it for peice of mind eh.

the rest is pretty straight forward.

what just incase it went off, so he could protect your seat with his face??? rofl.

i think the chances are slim tbh but i didnt fancy risking it.

Nope, I'm definately not risking it. I'll get my brother (renault trained mechanic) to do it!

I'm half tempted to take it to K Tec to get them to do it! (that's how lazy and scared of flunking it up I am!)

Well thanks for reassuring me Austin!

Hopefully there'll be no flames but after you say that I'll make sure i've got a fire extinguisher handy (which I have actually got as well!)

I can't wait to get it fitted now!
