Possible new splitter found!! (Skoda Fabia)

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

I'm not sure why people are cutting the tabs off, there's no need to do that.

Yeah I wondered if I had to faff doing this, thanks. Hopefully should be easy to fit using the original screws from my broken cup splitter?

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

Yep, should be fine.

Higher you can get the car in the air, the easier it'll be.

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

picking mine up in an hour! awesome considering I (like many others) phoned renault up for a quote on the standard one for a 182 and they said £150! DIY FTW.

now just to find a replacement key fob which won't cost me £185.....

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

How is this taking people hours to do LOL. plc's

LOL @ people taking two hours to fit a splitter?!?! Seriously?!?

15 mins trying to get the centre of the splitter screwed into the bumper just by holding it up.
10 mins finally realising it was best to screw the splitter first and then FINALLY attaching the centre of the splitter to the bumper
5 mins trying to line the next bit up so it was the same as the centre area
10 mins trying to get the second screw in
5 mins trying to remove the first screw after realising it would be easier to pre-screw the splitter all the way round
5 mins cutting off the extra rubber bits on the splitter with a crap Stanley knife
10 mins pre-screwing the splitter
5 mins getting the first central screw in the same place
5-10 mins per additional screw because it was so damn hard to get the right angle (car wasn’t jacked) in order to put enough pressure on the screwdriver to penetrate the bumper. It was also damn hard trying to line it all up properly
10-15 mins spend unscrewing various screws and doing them again so it was all straight.
5-10 mins cutting the excess off

So, quite easily.

How long did it take you two then?

Wonder how long it'll take for Skoda to figure out where their stock is going and up their prices!

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

I didn't cut the tabs off mine, just trimmed them so they were all flat which made screwing on easier.

As for the time, I guess it depends on how confident you are and what tools you have to hand to make life easy. But it soon disappeared, and I gave up trying to fit my head under the bumper and ended up taking it off, thankfully there's an idiots guide on here for that!!

Anyway some pictures of it fitted, took from my mobile so not great quality

I never cut the tabs on mine either. I just had to cut a little piece out of each end so it'd sit flat due to two dome headed screws that were holding the arch lining in place.

Wonder how long it'll take for Skoda to figure out where their stock is going and up their prices!

Lol. The guy asked me how much Renault were charging for their splitters. I just said "hmm just a little more than you do".

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

So is this the new 'in' thing?

Not sure about that, but in my view £12 is much better value than £140. Think it just goes to show how many sport owners want a cheap solution to the splitter thing

The second one looks deeper and slightly more rounded to me, a bit like the thin and fat Pug 307 ones :S

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

Took me hour tops, i drilled and rivited mine on, used about 15 rivits on mine, hold on sweet aswell, well worth a tenner, might go buy a spare before there all gone :)

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

Do i need a drill? I've currently just got self tappers, a screwdriver and a stanley blade and i plan on fitting it tomorrow

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

Just picked mine up from Autosales in Bilston, looks good, just to get it fitted now. :)

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

Ordered mine today, £11, coming in on friday hopefully.

Was it just the leicester branch or are all the show rooms really good. The staff were helpful and the parts guy didn't mind that I didn't have a skoda. He just got on with it and found the part. Then took me to one of the cars they had in stock and showed me what he had ordered to confirm it was what i wanted!

Renault dealers could learn a thing or two!

Also had a sit in a Yeti, thought it was pretty cool, i know evo have been raving about it!

I noticed that in the preston dealership too- they were all really helpful and couldn't believe how much renault were charging for the basically the same thing!

Have one sitting at home, but the self tappers I have are seriously chunky, so I need to pick up some better ones. Will fit at the weekend at the latest, bargain to the max!

Re: Possible new splitter found!!

Got mine yesterday, can't wait to fit it when I've got some free time.

Ask if they can get it posted direct to you and have an invoice sent through the post. They're ordered in and given as sent in the post so may be able to give the warehouse your address.

They come 'rolled' in a flat box thats about 75cm square (rough guess from memory). Shouldn't be too expensive to post.
