will 205/45/16 run on a 172 cup

Car  535d / t5 caravelle
as title please, on a 172 cup with coilovers and a small drop ( for now ) would like to order some tyres asap, and have my mind set on hankook v12 evo's, but it seems they only come in 205's, which is what i originally wanted, but i have been informed they may catch/rub the arches, can anyone advise me on this before i order :)

ps. car very rarely has anybody in it but myself

cheers

Re: will 205/45/16's rub?

I know ClioCoby used to run 205's on his standard 182 wheels on Gaz coilovers and had rubbing issues, changed to 195's and they went away iirc..

Re: will 205/45/16's rub?

Ive got 195's 40's and tbh il get 205 next time, they look great but are too stretched, just get 205 40's instead

Re: will 205/45/16's rub?

Stick with the 195's Bill, remember the old 185/55 - 195/50 willy threads? It's the same on these - 195's just suit our styles ;)

Also these evo's are shocking in the snow - they do feck all in snow - not exactly they're designed useage of course!

I've got the evo's on the missus' car and I've got Sportrac 3's on mine - they were epic on the willy and pretty darn good on this - work well in the cold too.

Re: will 205/45/16's rub?

I got 205/45/16s on a non-sport and they fit fine with slight rubbing on rear, so got 5mm spacers and fixed it ;)

Re: will 205/45/16's rub?

i had that size on when i first lowered the car on some B14's, was fine and no scrubbing issues.

Re: will 205/45/16's rub?

Lowered 40mm running 205 45 16 v12s fine, far better rim protection than 195s and a great value tyre too

thanks for the advice folks, spoke to a few cup owners with lowered suspension and i'm confident 205's will be fine, in fact my hankook rs2's landed through the door yesterday 205/45/16's, they look the nuts, going to order 2 more for the front and get them fitted at pheonix motorsports along with a slight drop in suspension, any rubbing issues will be sorted with them boys, with these tyres i should be sorted for a trackday or two next year until i get myself some 15's for track, will keep you updated on any issues i have with them.

keep us posted on how they compare to 195's i need two new fronts and considering if 205's would be better

my old 172 used to rub the arches on standard wheels/tyre size/suspenion lol
