My New 172 Cup

  172 Cup
Hi

I introduced myself in the New to Cliosport section a few weeks ago, my GTI-6 was hit from the side and sadly written off so I've made the jump and bought a 172 Cup, here are some picks I quickly took this morning.

It is in good nick apart from the wheels need a bit of a refurb, first job is a new exhaust, then the wheel refurb, going to keep it pretty much standard for the time being. I just need to decide which stealth exhaust to go for, I'd like a nice subtle raspy poppy sound but am keen to keep the stealth look.

I might look into lowering it slightly but I don't want to change the handling too much from how it was out of the box!

Its slightly quicker due to it being about 200kg lighter but the 6 speed gearbox in the Pug helped performance with the shorter ratios. I'm yet to really know for sure as I only got it yesterday!

tidy motor...might see you at a few meets (if you're in liverpool)....theres a meet on fri apr29 at chester

Looking nice. Afraid to say though I'm a sheep and it needs dropping a tad. Get onto some Eibach Sportlines. I've just put a set on my cup and it now handles better and a subtle but needed little drop.

nice cup, i am of the same opinion as you, would like it lower at the front but don't want to upset the current handling as its so chuckable and brilliant in standard form

The problem is there is a common misconception between better handling and cornering with less body roll, shorter stiffer springs would enable the car to corner with less body roll but that doesn't necessarily mean better handling, the balance of the car might be completely wrong. I will look into the Eibach sportline and coil over routes but not in any hurry!
