Le Mans June 2013

Having spent the last few hours at work (ahem) looking at all the threads & pictures from this year's 24 Heures Du Mans I've decided I'm totally on board for next year, I honestly don't know why I've not been before.

This thread may be a little early but at least it gives people plenty of time - plant the seed with your other half if you have to, start saving, and get ready for what could well turn out to be one of the best weekends of your life.

Just as a gauge, what are the levels of serious interest from South Central members? Anyone been before and planning to go again next year?

Tim

your probably best waiting till i throw a thread up thats not region specific as members from cs go from all over and we can use it nationally as a better discussion thread.

Sorry Naith, didn't mean to step on your toes ;-)

I got the impression there was a northern group (+Nickson) and the Failsport group, so was just putting it out there to some of the people I actually know in SC. Don't fancy completing any initiation tasks to join a tight group ;-)

I'm in, would be epic if people wanted to do a week trip including the ring and maybe some passes like Stelvio.

I know we talked about this at Combe this weekend but just to keep it ticking over in people's minds... The race is scheduled for Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd June 2013.

Depending on costs there are options for South Central:
a) more expensive ferry (possibly overnight) from Portsmouth/Poole/Newhaven to Le Havre/Cherbourg/Caen/Dieppe
b) Dover to Calais - cheaper ferry but more road miles

Either way I think the best plan is to arrive in France early on the morning of Thursday 20th and get the return boat at some point on Monday 24th.

Start saving, check your exam timetables, book the time off work, plant the seed with the other half, get thinking about sticker/graphics themes for the car, and keep a look out for anything Naith posts on the subject - he's a font/fount/fountain of Le Mans knowledge.

For now, that is all.

My exams won't clash so I'm able to go :)

Dover-Calais is probably best as I'd prefer to be driving than stuck on a ferry for 4 or 5 hours.

i'll post something up when im back from tunisia tomo night.

think i'm going weds this year though and doing things quite differently. gonna book me n our riad onto Houx, anyone feel free to join us (I'll post up details) but i dont know if i cba with the rigmarole of waiting for others to book/getting tossed about.

see what happens, i'll have a chat with truffs.

May be interested dependent on work and if I feel brave enough to talk this over with the missus. Her opinion would be that "You could sit on a bridge over the M3 at night and see lights go past at speed and save yourself shed loads of money. You'll see more on the telly and you can make a cup of tea whenever I want one. Although you want be able to watch it on the telly as I will be watching Big Brother". God I hope its going to be worth the discussion I'll be having.
