I need help deciding on seats.

Right I have narrowed my decisions down and each seat has its benefits and disadvantages:

1. Cobra Classic - I like that they are a classic look, but I don't like the fact that the seat belt has to cut across the vinyl possibly causing damage. I also don't like the fact that they're so common!

post-61381-0-60473500-1341588686_thumb.jpg

2. Cobra Classic CS - The difference of the CS to the standard classic is a headrest and more importantly, 4 point harness facilities. This appeals to me because of their added safety whilst still retaining the classic bucket seat look.

3. Cobra Clubman - Again these appeal to me because of their harness facilities and their added safety but the disadvantage is that (this sounds silly but, i know this because they're is all ready one in my car) You can't lean the seat forward far enough to get in the back, for me that just seams a bit pointless. Also the fact that they seem to get damaged very easily, rips and tears around the harness points.

post-61381-0-20002800-1341588729_thumb.jpg

4. Standard seats - The benefit of these are that there are re-trimming kits which are cheaper and they're original but they dont have a harness facility and they dont have any real side blustering to hold you in unlike the others.

5. Rock it with no seats

I think you've answered your own question Noah, Cobra Classics CS.

You didn't put any negatives for these ones and they keep the standard look,
but will fit harnesses and they look cool, do they tilt forwards enough for good access to the back seats?

I kinda did din't I. Woops lol. Yeah think I'm going to go for them, tbh, they're alot smaller than the clubman's so they should be fine, but im 5.7ft and couldn't get in the back past the clubman, let alone my best mate who is 6.4ft.

The Cobra Classic CS will match the door cards I have, red piping on the seats will match 100%.

I found mine locally on gumtree and paid £1000 for it, it was taxed and mot'd when i got it and its not got too much rust :) they pop up all over the place for cheap but some have LOTS of hidden rust!

I don't have any money Noah, i'm saving for a full belt service on the Clio,
that's my priority atm, but cheers anyway dude. :D

Although i've been looking tonight, not that I can afford one.
Found this, it's only a 1L and it has a few problems but it'd be a start.

Looks nice enough for a city 1000, You can always save some more and drop a 1275 in there and some cooper brakes?

That would be my plan, whatever Mini I get it's having the 1275 engine dropped in.

If there's one like that about they'll be more in the future. :approve:

  'Mia' Rover Mini 35
Does anyone know of a company that does interior re-trim. Thinking of buying standard seats from a sidewalk, which are the same shape seat that came in the 35 and having them re-trimmed in leather or Vinyl.

  'Mia' Rover Mini 35
The reason for the change of heart is the fact that the cobra's are around £360 pounds for the front seats, then add the subframes. £50. Then the cost of a back seat and the cover for that is £20 cover is £85

Thats adds to over £500. THATS THE COST OF THE CAR! lol.

The sidewalk seats are £200 front and back but look shocking. Not condition but. Colour lol. Blue tartan?

Today we took Mia of the drive drove up and around the block to put her back on with headlights towards the house, I also had a quick little polish of my steering wheel. Looks better but not perfect, will post pictures in a bit. Any advice on getting the deeper scratches out I want a almost mirror finish.

  'Mia' Rover Mini 35
More pictures!:

So I had a go at polishing the steering wheel. It got out the light scratches and gave it some shine but it's not good enough. I used stainless steel cleaner lol. Going to get some metal polish and see what that does.

Cheers Noah :approve:(I like to see how things are put together)

Is it me or is there pretty much no rust on those doors?

You would be correct in saying there is pretty much no rust on the doors. Except for some bubbling on the outside skin of the passenger door. Going to lay some paint over to make sure that the bare metal where the bell end who pot riveted door cards in doesn't beging to rust.

If you're wondering what the other car is its a 2000 Honda HR-V 1.6 VTEC. 4WD on 111,000 and is the best car we've ever owned and will take us to france every year.

The car will be blocked in by my sisters renault clio.

  'Mia' Rover Mini 35

Birthday on August the 3rd, a drift day on the 2nd at brands, Mini In the Park 3rd. My nan has gifted me £250 for my sixteenth birthday, which un shockingly will go towards the car :p. Then It gets moved into her garage and the strip down begins...

Oh and 2 things, does anyone know the maximum noise emissions to pass an MOT, cos Mia is f**king loud as.

and the previous owner has bent the b pillar on the drives side well dented trying to get the rear window out, how should i go about fixing that? Slide hammer?

are you taking your mini to minis in the park?, i will be there in my mini so come say hi it will be in the 16vminiforum stand, i will also be running up the strip to see if i can beat my 13.3 personal best :)

  'Mia' Rover Mini 35
and your driving it up the road?? tut tut cliosport police will be on you in no time!!

Its got no tax, no front number plate, no mot, and no insurance. I have placed my flame suit on.

I will now be banned for my 46 year old father taking my car of the drive and back on :p.

  'Mia' Rover Mini 35
It seems mia has some underlying hidden rust SHOCK :approve:

Drivers side, inside the wheel arch, the pannel that covers the scuttle. GONE. lol. f**k knows where it went.

Ive taken the executive decision to replace my scuttle, its not that bad and could be patched but the reason its f**ked now is cos of a bad bodge some time ago. But its a tad bubbling around the tops of the windscreen so I may just replace the whole windscreen assembly, as that panel is 12 pounds more.

Obviously the front end, still undecided on weather to replace the wings or not, depends on condition underneath the headlamps.

and the front valance has been caught at somepoint on a speed bump, which has bent it right up, so I will heat it up and try and re-shape it but, i may end up welding in a new one.

You've got your work cut out for you there mate,
time to start removing panels I think mate, just to make sure the rust isn't deeper.

Doesn't phase me. Every single mini I looked at had rust in the same places, if not worse. The welding isn't being done by me :p. but the removal is. lol.
