I can see why people would be upset, luckily all I have is a charging dock so don't really care. If I had a big Bose speaker that cost a fair bob I would be a bit dissapointed. I suppose because so many people have iThings it is similar to a headphone jack, they are all the same no matter what headphones/buds/whatever you have.

I can understand the moaners, but personally don't care.

I've said it before, generally I'm not a fan of Apple products. They're upgrade restrictive and avoid all possible industry standards in an industry driven market. Yet iOS and the iPhone are by far the best thing to happen to a smart phone for years, so I couldn't give a s**t if someone thinks the Galaxy is better, it's f*cking not. It's crap.

I wasn't talking about a model release count. I was talking about a specific model name. The 'iPhone 5'

Japanese website iLab has posted a set of high-resolution photos (via CydiaBlog) of what is alleged to be the next-generation iPhone.

CydiaBloggives this assessment of the images:
The leaked parts shows the bigger screen, different internals (such as a new flex cable holding the Home button in place), and the camera modules (front and rear). The camera module cutout looks to be larger, there is an enhanced version of speaker and microphone configuration at the bottom, new smaller dock connector (instead of 30-pin Dock Connector, 16-pin connector could be introduced). Another notable design change in the new iPhone front panel shows the FaceTime camera has been moved to a centered position above the earpiece speaker (it is currently to left of the earpiece in iPhone 4S and iPhone 4).

The photographs mirror reports from this past May that the next iPhone would sport a taller 4" screen, but would remain the same width. The next iPhone is expected to be released this fall along with iOS 6.

The front looks quite similar, slimmer almost but the back is nice. Very slick looking.

We shall see. I thought September was too close for release now.

Only once has white not been available straight away for the 4. 3G/3GS and the 4S both have white on launch.

Black for me this time I think.

Im just thinking because its a new design then white might be at a later date!... guess we will just have to see.

White for me. The OH's 4 looks nice as does the iPad in White.

Exactly this, I'm not all that keen on the back from the photos that are doing the rounds but still I'll buy one on release day. Considering white this time but I'll wait for the announcement to make up my mind.

Serious question? What can they make this one do that wont make everyone think it's just the 4S..S, rather than the next generation?

I'd be tempted to switch, but it must be a massive step up for me to change. I can't think what they can do though.

Well for me, it just needs to be more desirable than my 4, which I'm sure it will be. It's a phone TBH. I'm not expecting it to drive me to work or anything.

Of course, but a lot of people were disappointed the 4S didnt do more.

So it seems to me that this has to be a big step up. Like version 5, rather than 4.2 for example. But what more can a phone do!?

Well, we know:

The screen will be bigger
New dock connector might bring new features
Camera will be improved further
LTE will be introduced (although it wont work in the UK)
Dual Band wifi will be added (iPad "3" has it)
iOS 6

It will still be evolutionary, but they are all improvements.

Things that might happen

New processor
New type of screen tech (for Apple products not for the world)
NFC - or some form of NFC.
Companion accessory possibly formed around the next iPod nano.
