will a 182 engine fit my 172

hi guys as above im having to put a new engine in to my 2002 172 and i have sourced a 182 engine will it be a plug and play and will my ecu run that engine

Yes but you will need to use the 172 exhaust cat etc the rocker covers and inlet are different on a 172 so you will need to use your old stuff!

The rocker cover should be the same as his is ph2 no??
I thought just the ph1 rocker was different as it had a breather....


You can use the 182 manifold....but you gotta get a 182 cat/decat with it.

Do NOT swap rocker covers - they are matched to the heads and although it is possible to swap them it's a right ball ache.

The 182 does run a different breather set up but can be modified easily enough- just re use all your current bolt ons and it will be fine

What's the best way to go guys as I don't want too much hassle and will all the plugs on my loom go onto the 182 engine

Rocker covers aren't interchangeable.

If its a ph2 172 you will be able to bolt it straight in with the 182 inlet. Just need to change the Carbon canister pipe.
