Washing in an underground carpark. When Living in a block of flats.....

s***s going to get much worse than on street washing in peasant ville.

Might be putting a deposit down on a flat in Woking soon. Its a new build, fair few floors. It has underground parking. FML. Door Dings...... Lack of easy washing....

Just thinking. How on earth would one set about washing the car? If I live on floor 10 then should I just man it and take two buckets down to the carpark every weekend? Total ball ache but could be do able?

Do it at your mum & dads once a month or 2 if its protected good. QD wipe down now and again then.

I thought you did cars at work, maybe thinking of someone else.

No I think thats Gally.

I wont be going home often. Its about 300 miles away. I use ONR at the moment so use QD during the drying process.

I did this the other day. Diluted the citrus power to a 1/4 dilution and it works just as well. The car was gleaming again with just a pressure wash, citrus power and bilberry on the wheels.

​Citrus Power is amazing tbh. Smells nice too, so does Bilberry as well lol, both winners imo

Carbon'd. Drive to jet wash. CP, pay for jet wash, enter code, jet wash off.

Wash it properly at the parents every so often.

Might go semi perm. Maybe C1 but I hear Gayquartz UK is the better ceramic option these days since C1 went downhill big time.

Except my GF cant really afford to run a car right now so were buying near the train station so she can walk then get the train to London.

Whats it got to do with you? Its our first buy and we want to invest in something which will hopefully increase in value over time. Also we were planning on getting another mortgage once we start earning proper money and buying a real house or another flat in the block and renting it out.

And why the f**k would I want to live in there?

What a f**king dump. My house share is nicer than that FFS. I dont want to get stabbed on my way out the house thanks. Literal s**thole that. You dont have a decent income and buy a Clio 172 do you so why would I buy what basically is a garden shed with bricks?

You can't have both, it's that simple. Life's too important to genuinely worry about how you're going to wash your car.

Let the albanians wash it for 3 years and then move on. It'll look clean, you'll move into the flat that's going to gain money :rolleyes: and move out rich.

Actually, people do. Or atleast i do. I don't mean this post to come across as dick waving in any sense of the term but, i have literally zero debt and a good income or incomes as the case me be as the Mrs is on maternity leave at the moment.

I own my car outright, it feels good knowing i owe no one anything for it. I could afford alot of cars, but, the finance figures make me shudder - seriously f**k that. My 172 Cup is worth absolutley f**k all really, but at the grand age of 26, i love it. It's not everyones bag but it's my bag. Enjoy what you have mate, you're in an enviable position and don't really seem to be appreciating it as you should.

Possibly because you can't afford to live in a house similar to your house share, hence why you are sharing it with other people.

Get in your lane, stop trying to buy cars that outweigh you and your partners salary in addition to thinking you are 'above' certain houses, and then maybe think about adjusting your spending accordingly.

This, I know a few people on £40k driving round in cars worth a couple £k. They prioritise on their house, where they spend 12 hours a day in the week and most of the weekends in, rather than a car that they spend about 1 hour a day in.

I know of one person on £100k with a £12k Peugeot (Probably worth about £7k now as it's 4 years old), no debt, savings and a f*cking nice house in a nice area in addition to going on nice holidays.

Cars are a bit of a waste, and not worth chucking loads at in the grand scale.

What a ridiculous comment, I know plenty of people on decent income that don't want to spend out on cars. I know people that would think the amount you pay per month for your car is crazy.

You need to get a grip of yourself

Spot on.

I don't see the current obsession with getting yourself into debt for a brand new car, I've only ever bought one car on finance/credit when I was young & stupid, never again.

My clio may be 10 years old, but it's all mine and I'm not gonna lose much, if anything when I inevitably decide to change it, and I don't fear the repo man ;)

Agreed - It's pointless having a nice expensive car and ploughing all your money into it and then having nowhere to keep it.

I've seen some really nice cars living outside some proper shitty little house in the middle of a shitty area - It's all going to end in tears.

I live in a block, 6 floors up and used to carry the buckets down.
We have an underground car park and after some talking to the other residents we've had a hose point and communal electricity point installed (ftw)

Our spaces are laid out in 2's with a pillar every 2 spaces, which is a result, as it's the wife's space next to mine!

Washing down there is piss easy, and much better than on the road / driveway.
It's never really cold, no wind, always lit up, and it's secure from the pikey scum of the world behind security gates.

Lol at the OPs statement; 'You don't have a decent income and buy a clio 172'.

As Dan and DB said, I know of quite a few who run cheaper cars than they could afford for various reasons. I drive the Micra as a daily and have the clio for fun. Clearly I earn an awful wage.

If you point yourself out to everyone as the local weirdo by washing your car in the underground carpark than when one of the drunk and bored teenage kids decides to key someones car for something to do, then its will be yours, if you dont make yourself stand out like that in the first place then it probably wont be.

Not sure why this has turned into a general chat thread about house prices? A friend owns a £1.25m flat in central London/Old Street which has communal parking. What difference does that make? And who gives a damn about being the "local weirdo" washing his car in the carpark?

Anyway, Toby. Back on topic. You know how anal I am about mine, so take my advice. Get the car protected. Use CP on the wheels/glass/paint. Drive to the local jet wash. Done. Then wash it properly at your parents/a mate's house when you get a chance. Echo echo echo.

Done, dusted, end thread.

Oh and House>Car.
