Cliopatra the '99 Mk2 Ph1 1.4 Alize

Hello! :)

After passing my driving test in february this year, at the old age of 24 (I know..) my mum decided to buy a Mk3 Clio Dynamique and give me her Mk2 Ph1 Clio Alize! It was quite a refreshing change from the '95 Corsa I had been driving for practise whilst learning (in a Focus!), power steering is a blessing, trust me!

The car has only done 44k miles, which is insane since it's a '99 plate! It's also been kept in immaculate condition, minus the passenger side rear door which got a nice bash when my mum reversed it into a pillar last year; my gran had not long passed away so yeah.. :(

The door has since been repaired kind-of by my dad, we're going to get more paint and respray the whole door, it should look a lot better after that. In the future I shall probably get a new door, prepare it, then get a bodyshop to spray it up nicely, but that all depends how it looks once my dad and I spray it.

Anyway!
Until I can afford to buy and insure a 1*2 cup/trophy, this will be my little project car :)
I'm still not sure how I feel about the colour, but it's unique to say the least! Looks quite nice when the sun is out, but looks really 'iffy' when it's not shining :(

I've not long come back inside from changing the rear lights to the Ph2's! It's looks sooooo much better already.

I really want to get some OZ F1's or similar alloys, here's a photoshop of them on it.

I'm not planning to get anything colour-coded, since I think the black really 'pops' with the sunset/burnt orange that the rest of the car is.
I will however be making the renault diamonds black at some point :) May carbon wrap them and get some of the interior wrapped as well, not sure as of yet!

In the future I may replace the interior with the sport stuff, just depends what I can find and the right price.
As of now, I have my MOT next month, and then saving for the alloys + tyres, shall need to pick up a 15" spare as well, since I believe my stock steelies are 14".

Cheers!

Some updates :)

Gave the interior a good clean out today, wiped inside the door frames and all the windows.
Used 'back to black' on pretty much everything that's black.
Debadged the boot in preparation for the satin black badges to arrive in the week, as well as a carbon wrapped front diamond :D
I've ordered some Team Heko wind deflectors too!
Also, earlier in the week I fitted Aero wipers and a Stubby Aerial.

Standard door speakers were sounding dodgy so I ordered some basic EDGE speakers for £22 a pair :)

EDGE - Standard

All nice and snug!

Sound quality is much better, though I've had to adjust the settings on my headunit to add more bass, music has wayyyy too much treble otherwise.

Also fitted:
Black Renault and Clio boot badges
New number-plate light case + bulb
Moved headunit front-aux to the rear-aux, then directed the cable under the dash into the passenger footwell

This looks quite nice! A great colour too - I can imagine it looks pretty nice out in the sunshine!
Could do with some dual-optic headlights and maybe a Dynamique spoiler!

Where did you get your speakers from and did they make much of a quality difference? Did you replace both front+back speakers?

Thanks! I really need to get it detailed properly at some point, it definitely deserves it :)

Dynamique spoiler is on its way, should arrive Monday hopefully.
Yeah, I need to get dual optics at some point, but my MOT and Tax are due so I'm holding back atm haha

The speakers are from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250931676287?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
The quality has definitely improved, and the volume can go much higher without it sounding distorted/muffled. Front & back, I just picked up 2 pairs, about £45 which isn't bad at all.
They were a direct fit, but I've been a little worried about them getting too hot since they sit very snug in the speaker pod; no damage to any of the plastic yet so seems fine :)

Yeah mine could do with serious body tlc, I'll have to get a professional to give it a good going over.

Thanks for the speakers link, I'll have to invest in those - i already have myself a little sub in the boot so new door speakers couldnt hurt! They run off the original wiring etc?

If you want a few other ideas for things to do - click the link under my username, it'll take you to my '01 Alizé project. Same as you - 1.4 5 Door. Only mine's an Envious Green ;)

Snipped off the original connectors and soldered the new ones to it :)
Black with the white line on it is the positive and that connects to the cream coloured one iirc
No issues as of yet and they've been in over a week now.

Your car looks really nice, I can't wait to get alloys for mine, really makes a difference!

Thanks again :)

Ugh soldering. I may break out my wire crimper as I have..less than steady hands. I could burn myself with the soldering iron and it won't even have been plugged in yet either.

Thanks mate! I got those alloys about 2 years ago, before even being really interested in this whole thing - turns out i happened to get a fairly close replica to OZ F1s/Some-sort-of-leggara!
Cost me about £280 odd out of my local Halfords, including 4 tyres which i also needed!

Haha, I used some funky tube things which you heat up and they shrink to join the wires, worked quite well!

That's pretty good, the ones I've been looking at are around £400 or so with tyres. They're 15" Calibre Rapide in black. Probably getting Yokohama wet weather tyres on them since it tends to rain more than anything else (this heat wave won't last haha!)

My sport spoiler arrived today, didn't take long to fit, probably the easiest mod so far!

Much better!! What's next on your plans?

Thanks!

Not sure as of yet, there's a really dodgy bit of corrosion on the exhaust so I may end up replacing the whole system with a new stainless steel one, shall have to wait and see what happens with that.
Other than that it's alloy wheels (those are just fancy trims on atm!) and saving for a 1*2 :)
Would love to lower it, but my driveway sucks as you might be able to see from some of the photos :(
