What An Awesome Audio Set Up!

Gabs, I can't afford the labour, fixtures and fittings, but he has the cheapest amps and speakers going.

What An Awesome Audio Set Up!

It's all cheap kit. Looks like he's robbed Sevenoaks.

    02 reg Clio 172 vs. 53 reg Clio 172 ...

I owned two 106 GTis and the first was definitely quicker. The second was owned by an older lady for six years and I suspect it had not been thrashed enough to open up.

Mk2 1.2 16v - start it up, and it cuts back out

My girlfriend has a Y-reg 2001 1.2 16v (mk2 ph2) and a starting problem. When she starts it up it'll quickly die, although it can be kept alive if rev'd. The engine management light is on, although after a while it'll be fine and can be driven. It seems to happen every couple of weeks. The AA...

    Audio Downloads

iTunes is appalling value. You're better off sourcing the CD from Amazon and ripping it yourself. Not only is the bit rate substantially higher, but you have a physical backup. Some specialists are beginning to release studio masters for download, but it'll be a long time before this is...

    ps3 or blu ray player

The PS3 is okay, and I use the optional remote control to make it less toy-like, but it is noisy and ugly. If I'm watching a film late at night I get a little fed up with its noise.

    Truly lossless audio ripping?

The software that is most popular on audio forums is EAC - Exact Audio Copy. You can also use dbPowerAmp and AccurateRip, which verifies your rip against a database to ensure it is perfect. WAV is the default but won't support proper tagging. Any lossless format - FLAC, Apple Lossless, WMA...

home cinema system for ps3 (wireless)

Wireless rear speakers, as said, aren't actually wireless because you need mains power. If you don't want the fuss just get a good two channel system. You won't have "surround sound" but the quality will be far superior with music. 2.1 is another option too. AVI HiFi are bringing out a 2.1...

    Speaker and Amp Combo?

I think there is a prejudice against Cambridge Audio, but their latest stuff is good. My friend's 740C was about as good as my Copland CDP costing many times more.

    Media Streaming and Encoding

I've used things like DVD Decrypt, DVDX and Hanbrake. They don't take too long - 30mins on modest laptop?

    iPhone Sound Dock

I would go about this a different way... If your music is on your iPhone it's also going to be on your computer too. Get yourself to RicherSounds for some entry level HiFi, and stream the music from the computer wirelessly, or use a decent off board sound card. Look at "Squeezebox" or "Apple...
