the 3/8 (not 8mm) keyway works fine as long as the tool is a tight fit in the hole, is slotted in squarely, and the tensioner isn't seized
wouldn't dream of getting the renault tool for it though
slacken the alternator off, take the top bolt out of it and let it drop forwards, might just give you enough
you should be using a short 3/8 extension, not 1/4
firstly you almost always have to adjust ring gaps. They are rarely if ever, correct out of the packet.
Secondly, it's important that the gaps on the 1st and 2nd rings are different, I normally work with a 0.002" larger gap on the 2nd ring
with regular servicing they're fine. If it was close to 100k I'd say do it, otherwise, if it's quiet then it's just wasting money. I'll happily change one for a nominal cost if it gets noisy within 6 months after doing a belt change.
I must be making too small a margin........
your CV boot has come off/split
Quite easily going to cause this issue if the grease has all gone and the joint has run dry. New driveshaft is the most likely solution
usually because people do too much in one hit so havn't got anywhere to go with their next mod. Often people mod for cool points rather than for their own enjoyment, and they dont actually enjoy what they've done.
Adding to a car gradually can be far more enjoyable. I personally love to modify...
