OK thanks for the responses. According to the garage under the new MOT rules if you fail an MOT and take the car out to do the work yourself then when you take it back they have to do a whole noew MOT and charge you again!!! MADNESS

My valver has failed its MOT surprise, surprise.
The Off Side Front, lower ball joint is knackered and there is play in the steering because of it. So needs replacing at a cost of £95.00 plus they say tracking needs to be redone so extra £25.
Is this about right?
on my clio 1.8 16v (old shape) I had the problem of high idling. once the car went over a certain idle point it idle at something ridiculously high like 2500rpm. I changed the speedo cable and the problem was solved.

I am going to change the spark plugs on the valver (1.8 16v) and was wondering what everyone else is using. I am leaning towards the bosch super 4's, any opinions?
Also is there anything i can pour down the spark plug chambers to clean them out before putting new ones in?
ok thanks for advice. In the end I ended up getting a set of lucas pads which come with the bolt holes but are about £8 more expensive than the ferodos.
My next problem is that i cant remember how the spring goes back on the pads. I thought i had it sussed but the damn springs wont fit right...

my radio on my 1.8 valver has suddenly decided to play up, normally i can search through the stations but it seems the radio is not locating radio stations. When i manually tune it the reception is really poor, anyone know why this is?
could it be a sign the battery is wearing...
