Day 273........

You'll never believe this, just checking my emails as I won free gift on the postcode lottery and if my double burger press wasn't good enough another email popped up.

Thank you for your inquiry.
Please accept our sincere apology for the delay in getting back to you.
Please be advised that we have created a new order to reship the CSL DD (5 Nm) for you as soon as possible.
It should be shipped out by our warehouse shortly via UPS.
You can check your order in your Fanatec account as your tracking information will be uploaded there once it has left our warehouse.
We thank you for your patience.

Now I know this doesn't mean anything at this point but at least I'll have a new order to email about.

Anyone who has the GT Omega Prime Lite can they tell me if the seat hangs over the back of the frame?

Dimensions give a length of 137cm and I have a current length of around 150cm I want to fit it in. I'm only little at 5'10 so not expecting the seat right back.

Also, on the monitor stand is there any benefit in going for the profile over the cheaper portable? Profile seems a bit overkill for a single monitor and as its free standing.

I also assume that the monitor stand will sit over the pedals so not add any length to the setup?

Are you just going to be doing sim racing, or do you need something expandable like the prime?

I’m really happy with the Titan, and it’s soooooo much easier to put together than a Prime.

Guess it depends how far you want to take it 👍

I did look at the Titan but for the extra £100, Titan £619, Lite £719 with bucket seat and monitor stand the Lite seemed more future proof for whatever I decide.

But whilst we are on the subject

Now that’s express delivery. Finally!
It all comes to those who wait. Excited but need to attach it to my desk for the time being, so less excited.

Once I confirm all is good I will be in touch for some compensation. Will suggest either the load cell pedal or booster pack would be sufficient and I'll tell the world how great their customer service was in resolving the issue.
Dare you to say it arrived with an empty box

Set it up tonight, After an hour of updating the drivers and having a few panics where it just sat there saying "please wait" until I decided this isn't right so cancelled after a "you don't want to be cancelling this mate" message I finally got it all updated.

Then took me 20 minutes to figure out it needed to be in xBox mode to play Forza.

Mounted it to my work desk and anyway, desk shook to death, pedals kept moving and I kept crashing (probably me). Packed it away now and will probably not bother getting it back out until I sort the rig.

Decision is, going away end of June for a fortnight, GT Omega out of stock until at least 14th June so probably going to be packed away now until end of July. Then again what is another 50 days when you've waited 280.

All a bit of an anti climax

Yeahhh having a direct drive wheel on a normal desk isn’t the best. Takes a bit of getting used to, as well.

Just ordered a 330mm rim, bit closer to the wheels I’m used to IRL compared to the stock 280mm flat bottom rim on the ES.

On the monitor stand, I'm running the standard cheapo one. It works but, dependant on how you have it positioned, it may not work!

Picture below will explain it better but it fits over the Prime Lite main extrusion but it will foul the upright. Ideally I'd like my monitor a bit closer to the wheel base but, due to the above issue, I can't really do this.

The only other reason id go for the profile one is so it all matches better. I got mine preowned for £30 so can't complain!

Yep, reviews are all good but when they first released it they promised different wheel styles and have so far, released nothing.

That’s annoying for anyone who bought hoping for that, it’s been out a while too. Personally I’m happy with the wheel it comes with, but if they want to build an ecosystem that’s not the way 🤷‍♂️

I agree it's not for everyone, but I like to try and match the wheel style with the game.

Lets see where this gets me, I would like to think a company who have had such bad PR will be doing their upmost to restore their image.

I've gone for the following approach:
1) thank them
2) Call them out
3) Ask for something
4) Pretend I'm going to be a loyal customer going forward

Perfect compo tekkers. If it doesn't get the result Daily Mail compo face picture being sent

Hi Everlie,

Many thanks for resolving the issues with my delivery. After 280 days since ordering I can now confirm that I have received all items in my order and they are working as expected.

I would like to go back to a promise I received in another email from Fanatec dated 20/10/2023 that stated the following:

"Finally, we know a simple reshipment of your order is not enough to help you regain confidence in us as a reliable service partner. For this reason, we will be reaching out to you as soon as we’ve processed all open orders with a proper apology, in the hopes that a gesture of goodwill on our part is the first step in doing right by you."

Are Fanatec still standing by their gesture of goodwill for the 9 months I have had to wait for my order?

If so, I would be very grateful if you could arrange a gesture of goodwill for myself to help in expanding my Fanatec product range.

Yours thankfully

Pete

Well well well. Looks like Fanatec have got their sh!t together. less than 24 hours and a reply.

I wonder if the responsible team will just ignore it.

What would you accept as a suitable 'gesture of goodwill'?

I don't think a discount off next purchase would be fair, cash gift voucher is basically a discount so that is not great.

A load cell pedal or booster pack for the 5nm would be a result.

Load Cell pedal - 139 euro
Booster pack - 149 euro

So not much between them.

Having a look what they have, I reckon....
clutch kit, 39 euros
CSL pedal tuning kit - 34 euro

If they offer me a Fanatec Beanie hat......

Surely €150* gift card settles it.

*must equate to no more than 5% of the total transaction value and must be used in a single transaction

Load cell pedal - makes a world of difference for braking. You simply shift the existing brake pedal to be the clutch then.

A bit of rewiring needed (unclip here - clip in there) but all pretty self-explanatory. As mentioned previously, DO NOT connect the pedal base into the rear of the wheel hub and also connect the pedal base to the PC as well. Fanatec's instructions kind of indicate that things go pop when they do.

Yeah, I got that bit, brake into the pedal base and pedal base to DD. I assume with a load cell pedal you'd just daisy chain the current brake/clutch to load cell to pedal base to DD?

What cable would you use to plug it directly to the PC anyway?

Yep - exactly that.

From memory - you use a USB-A to USB-B cable when the pedal base isn't connected directly to the wheel hub.

When connected to the wheel hub, the firmware for the pedal base cannot be updated within the Fanatec software. It can only be done via USB.

I've connected both cables to the pedal base, but have one end of the USB lead coiled up and away from the PC. Every couple of months, I'll disconnect the pedal base from the wheel hub and plug in the USB to the PC - just to see if there are any updates.

I really need to buy a real-life steering wheel for my set up. Bought the adaptor, just need to find the right wheel from China.
