Of all the cars to build a rig from, what a random choice. Who is spending that much time driving a Volvo in a racing game? Apart from @BoatNonce obviously...

@mace¬ what size mouse mat did they send you as a good will gesture?
flol. I wish, Fanatec gone back to type. Heard nothing since. Going away end of June, once I get back if nothing has been done then I'll raise it again with them and use my compo face to empathise how I feel I don't think I can trust them for future purchases.

On a side note after a blast on Horizon at the desk I had a go at Motorsport and felt that was more like what I was after. Smashed the OT this month at work so if we don't go mental on holiday I can't wait to order the rig when I get home. Get a proper setup and finally get going.

Daughter has had a little go as well and she is addicted, constantly in my ear asking when we can play again which is nice as she normally locks herself in her room on tiktok or s**t

Managed to get some decent time in with the new wheel and tweak some settings. It feels brilliant, and the bigger wheel is surprisingly still very realistic in terms of detail, presumably because it is that much lighter.

Added a lot of damper/static friction which I think helped. When you turn a steering wheel you feel the weight of all the steering components and the friction of the tyres, without any added friction or damping it just felt very light and springy.

Had an absolute blast with a full Le Mans grid earlier, even though I was driving the new RSS Porsche 963, a prototype, it didn’t feel like I was steering a scalpel with a ship’s helm.

That said, the Moza KS is stonkingly cheap for a GT3/prototype/formula wheel at £280…

3 hours at Le Mans with a full grid in the Lexus RC-F GT3, very enjoyable. Had FFB cranked to really wrestle the car about.

Don’t touch the base after though!

(it feels hotter than that, I did find a thing that for painted aluminium you use an emissivity of 0.45 and with that it was rocking at 83.1 degrees which is much more believable, but either way sodding hot! Mind you it didn’t suffer other than turning down the force a little as it got super hot)

You should get into iRacing bud. We did the Le Majors (Le Man 24 hours) the weekend before last. Its fudgingly awesome (We won our split).

I’m vehemently against their subscription model tbh, and that I can’t really commit to a race since I generally have no idea when I’m actually going to get a chance to race these days.

There’s decent le mans series on Assetto as well though, be a good laugh with a bunch of mates locally.

So almost a year on and I'm in the market for the rig when I get back off holiday. Caught in two minds at the moment.

TR80 looks better but a bit more expensive, Fixed back GT style seat and integrated monitor stand. About £1019.

Problem is, I have a space of 160cm to fit in and can stretch to 200cm if I move the beer fridge.

I'm about 5'10 with little legs so doubt I'll need anywhere near the full length.

Other option is as originally planned the GT Omega Prime Lite, frame comes in at 137cm but doesn't mention any of the overhang for the seat.

Specced up roughly the same with bucket seat and integrated monitor it comes in at £835 with the Fanatec DD mount.

Pros of the TR80 are more adjustability but will I bother with the hassle? Downside are its a lottery if it fits and Mrs will go mental if I'm replacing the sofa after 3 months to fit it in

Decisions to be made

Do not buy the TrakRacer GT seat. It’s dogshit. Uncomfortable for racing and the back flexes when stamping hard on the brakes. I’ll be replacing mine with a Sparco GridQ soon.

I have the TR80 and it manages well with my 27Nm wheelbase and hydraulic brakes.

I don't know when I'm free either but they run races basically every 2 hours if you stick to one discipline or every 30 mins if you mix it up

The game gets significant patching every quarter so I can stomach the subs I guess

Screenshot from me nearly losing it last night at Austria:

So they also do the trx more expensive seat?

Is there a better option? And what’s involved to make it fit?

I’d stay clear of all the Trak Racer seats tbh. NLR ES1 is apparently a very good choice of seat (doesn’t look amazing though?) for comfort.

I’m torn between that and a Sparco Grid-Q (hoping the TrakRacer seat mounts I have right now fit onto the Grid-Q).

Order placed, Gone with the Prime Lite, Inertia bucket seat, integrated monitor mount and Fanatec DD mount.

Decided against the extra £500 for the TrakRacer as I can get a shifter and handbrake and clutch for not much more.

One thing to be aware of with having an integrated monitor mount is that it will shake with the FFB from your wheelbase. Obviously the stronger the wheelbase the more pronounced this ends up being.

I swapped from my integrated mount to a free standing one for this very reason.

Can't remember what pedals you've gone for but if they are loadcells and you run them quite strong, the Prime Lite pedal plate might flex. You can fit the pedal plate from the full Prime.

Would also agree with Noddie about the integrated monitor.

lol, cheers then. Set your expectations low and you never fail to achieve them.

I'm only running the 5nm DD at the moment so hopefully not get that, and just have CSL DD pedals for now but looking to get the loadcell pedal.

At least the £450 saved gives me a little wiggle room to improve on any faults I find.

Mind blown.....

I don't know whether to reply or not, In all honesty I was going to purchase the loadcell pedal and gear shifter end of the month. I will not be doing that now.

Disappointed is an understatement and I'd love to know what they consider as deserving of compensation.

Post it on Twitter and tell everyone that a 280 day wait for delivery isn't worthy of compensation and everyone should buy Moza stuff instead. Make sure you tag Fanatec and Moza.

Gamers Nexus doesn't normally do racing stuff but they do love shitty customer service stories, they might get you some decent coverage.

And that is that.....

Hi Everlie,

Many thanks for getting back to me quickly and working your hardest to resolve my issues and get my products delivered. I really do appreciate your efforts.

In all honesty, I am extremely disappointed in your team leaders decision that a delay of 280 days from order to delivery does not deserve any form of compensation and is somewhat astonishing. This leaves me feeling that Fanatec are currently so far out of touch with their current customer base that I will no longer be purchasing the loadcell pedal and shifter that I was planning to purchase at the end of this month. I honestly believed that Fanatec were the market leader in the Sim Racing sector and was looking to build my setup around their products. Unfortunately this will no longer be the case. I will be looking to purchase further products elsewhere.

Please do not take this feedback personally as I have found yourself as the only helpful contact through all my contact with Fanatec.

All the best in the future.
Pete
Any idea on what load cell pedals to get now? Can I just buy a separate load cell from a different manufacturer and keep the Fanatec CSL pedals?

I've been sat here stewing over it tonight, thinking I'm about to blow another £150 on the Moza pedals because I won't buy the Fanatec load cell now.

I'm pretty crap at this social media s**t, so how would I go about sending them the saga? Now.... I don't do FB, Instagram, Twitter or anything. Just discovered YT in the last year and can't see an email us link.

Sounds like a pretty genuine reply from customer services tbh and they are just being told from above f**k em.

Now I've had a sulk and I'm over it this morning I am tempted to order the load cell pedal.

So it has been 324 days since I purchased the Fanatec CSL bundle and I'm about to power it on properly for the first time, not quite finished yet, got to tidy up a few things, add the shifter side bar, end panels, cables etc but think I'll run it for a few days make any adjustments I need.

Also swapped the stupidly long monitor profile they provided with the shifter side bar as it was a lot shorter and fitted better. I'm never going to have the room to run triples so I don't need it sticking out both sides.

Also, still working on the monitor fitment but we had a 32" TV brand new that wasn't be used, only a crappy Technica thing but will do for now.
