I have only one photo from the track day, even though they took about ten in total, all of which were in sequence.

I mean, an old black Clio isn't very photogenic, and Black doesn't reflect too well. It was the same with my other Black 182.

In contrast, my Racing Blue 182 only did six laps in a morning session, and I had five different pictures from various angles to choose from.

It was a great track day, though, so I suppose you can't have everything.

There was another Clio Sport there as well, but I didn't get a chance to pop over and speak to the driver. Maybe on here?

Another trackday looms so time to check the car over.

The plan was to change the oil but Opie Oils/FedEx managed to lose it. 🤦🏻‍♂

So, I addressed the rear pads, one of which fell out at the last trackday.

Removed the old ones.

Standard Brembo pads - fitted by previous keeper - and they seemed fine with CL6 or DS1.11 pads.

I bought some DS2500 from Frogjam Motorsport which are a great combination with DS1.11 in the front.

Didn’t fancy using the aftermarket pins either.

Made a noticeable difference to braking performance on mine. Get the rear discs to warm up now instead of just rubbing off the rust 😂
I've consistently used DS2500 on the rear brakes and DS1.11 on the front, but I was pleasantly surprised by the car's braking performance, so I decided to leave the setup as it was until they needed replacing.

I have a brake bias valve so should only need a little adjustment.

I fitted CL RC6 pads to the Clio because they worked really well from cold which is great for hillclimbing as the brakes never get hot, (unlike a trackday) hence std pads in the rear brakes. In the Fiesta I'm now hill climbing I'm using add pads all round and they are working really well!

I'm still missing my old Clio though🙁

I assumed that's why you opted for standard rear pads, Tony. To be honest, the brakes performed great on the track. I used to run CL6 and DS2500 on my old car and they were too aggressive, so you had a really good setup there and I learned a lot from that. I switched only when testing a harder medium tyre, and the CL6s caused the front to lock up due to insufficient grip. I've since received some feedback on those tyres, so I'll give them another go.

Unfortunately the DS1.11 pads don't pair well with standard rear pads; the difference was immediately noticeable. They require a more aggressive compound at the rear.

Consequently, I've reverted to a new set of 52s and will continue with the DS1.11/DS2500 combination, as I think that’s a good setup for these cars on track.

You'd probably hate it now, and it definitely wouldn't work at Harewood. When I took it to Croft for the first time without changing a thing, I was stunned at how different it was from my previous track car. You said yourself that it would need certain things, and you were spot on. In some ways, it was superior; in others, it fell short. But that has allowed me to take a different approach and create something better. I love it.

Throughout the season, I've encountered minor issues and some unfortunate weather, but I think I've resolved most of these now. I'm eager to get back out again.

I'm pleased you are enjoying it... I think the engine is single best thing about the car!!

SORN the Clio, gave the old girl a quick clean up, ran the fuel down, gave everything a spray with Atom-Mac, removed the battery and stored her away until next season.

I was a bit peeved that I couldn't do the last Trackday at Croft, as pretty much everything has been sorted now. Still, that means next year should be easier on the wallet. 🤞🏻

Overall, it's been a good season, and I've learned so much about the car, the engine, and the setup. All good knowledge to carry into another season. Thank you to everybody who's helped me along the way and to those whom I've finally got to meet. Looking forward to another good season, and thank you for reading.
