How do you get on with the T ROC R?

Had one for a few days a while back was pretty impressed tbh went well I liked it wy more than I thought I would.
It’s the wife’s so don’t drive it often, but it drives well tbh.

I had a Golf R before the RS and unsurprisingly the T-Roc is very similar, arguably feels like it rides/handles nicer for some reason.

Had that 4 years now and similar to the RS not sure what we’d swap it for that doesn’t cost a million pounds.

The guy from VW who developed it and a few reviews said the same thing, They built on what they learned from the Golf and managed to make the T-Roc R better.

I still think there’s just something inherently “right” about the Mk7 Golf though, they really hit the sweet spot.

Vaguely remember reading something about that as well in a review somewhere.

The Golf I had was a good car, did everything you wanted, but had no character and was very sterile/clinical.

Which was one of the reasons of moving to the RS3, similar car but had a bit more to it.

The only flaw I could find with my R was that the engine lacked character. It’s brilliantly effective, but a bit one dimensional.

Definitely see an RS3 or a TTRS in my future. I love a five pot engine from my Volvo days.

Yes I found the T roc R nice tbh very Impressed I have had mk6 gti 7.5 gti performance and now have a mk8 gti must say for me other than the lack of buttons the mk8 is a much better all round car imo.

Well, my time with the vRS is coming to an end. And I'm genuinely sad about it. Loved every minute with this car. Has done everything required of it. Family hauler, IKEA trip runner, B road blaster. Smart looking but understated. 68,500 fault free miles, the most I have ever driven any car.

A final wash before some snaps for Autotrader.

I’m definitely going to try and get one as well. Even the early TTRS (which you can get a manual) are starting to look like a good buy!

Any tips on not having this stolen? Already has a ghost immobiliser and the keyless has been coded out, which I hope will be enough?

Front black badge has already been changed for a proper silver one, waiting on the rear badges to arrive.

Other than the slight worry of having the car stolen, really liking it so far. Drives like a normal A3 99% of the time, and has the sound and power to give you a bit of fun. Not much character compared to the Clio, but I must admit having heated seats and carplay back is a real upgrade over the Clio.

Park it down the road, so they can try to relay thief it outside someone else’s house 🤡

Jokes aside, nice buy. The 5pot in these sounds immense. Get a visual deterrent like a disk lock.

Obd port lock and disklok, keys both sets in faraday pouch.

If some back street place has fitted the ghost get something different or get it refitted once found really easy to start the car and some s**t fitters just put them by obd port so easy to find and bypass.

Unfortunately no paperwork for the ghost, so no idea of the quality of the install. I have noticed a mark on a bit of interior trim in an odd spot, so I suspect I know where it is. Will have a look around the OBD, check it's not painfully obvious though.

If you see one you will wonder why they cost 500 quid to supply and fit!

Standard, but due to it being a lease. Saw a relatively good - by today's standards - deal so jumped.

It's then VW's problem in 2 years, a pure ICE car. I don't have to be lumped with it.
