Tyres will be a massive upgrade over the previous 4 year old Conti 5’s that are beginning to crack and have been quite frankly s**t.

Sorry I’m not understanding what you are saying about spacers though.

Predictive text🙄

I wouldn't go too wide on the spacers otherwise imo it looks a bit overdone!

Yeah which is why I’m asking what size etc? Don’t want them poking out too much they just look a little too inset as standard.

This has probably been discussed, but would I be crazy to go for PS5s over PS4S tyres? Both available in 235/25/19, think I value the wet grip of the PS5.

PS5 are good tyres. I had PS4S on the 35d before putting PS5 on. Only reason I didn't go for the 4S's again was due to the extra cost at the time else I would've done. However I'd say they wore quicker than the PS5 are currently.
It's a bit of a balancing act with extra performance vs tyre wear and for me I'd say the 5's are sound all things considered
What car would they be for?

Yeah that's what I figured, it's for an RS3, driven normally the vast majority of the time. Dealer put some mid range tyres on the front before I bought the car to replace some worn PS4S's, really not what I want on through winter, although the tread is obviously fine. PS4S on the rear.
Extra wear would be nice, although I don't do a ton of miles so not a deal-breaker.

Don't rule out Conti Sport contact 7's. Cheaper than PS4S and are as good, if not better imo.

Not a far as I know? I fitted some on my C63 about 6 months ago and they still look unworn tbh which is some going.

They get great reviews in tests too.

PS4s are 8mm

Probably makes f**k all difference in the grand scheme of things mind but it’s something to be considered.

Yeah but the most recent Michelins have been dire and you end up replacing them for cracked sidewalls at 4mm

A lad at work has just gone for PremiumContact7s, they're meant to be the dogs danglies

I had premium conti 7s on the Clio and they were very very good, even moreso that they handled a full day of thrashing at CSF with minimum fuss.

Sidewalls or corners?

Never had an issue with any of mine

The Contis I have just got rid off we’re cracking after 4 years. Still approx 40,000 miles out of them was pretty good going.

You can't compare older conti's to the 7's. Mine came with sport contact 5's and they were awful and like plastic compared to the 7's.

Having had various dealings with Volkswagen between the Ed30/R & GTi, i wouldn’t bother with that. Put the money aside and use a specialist vag garage, plenty about Matt!

The thermostat housing issue is the the main reason I’m doing it. Mines not gone yet but no doubt it’ll do it as others have experienced.

Plus the convenience of having included breakdown cover/servicing etc.

Heads up if you have a less than 6 year old Vag car. £29p/m all in plans are live.

Had this for a year. I have a really good dealer, not part of one of the big chains and I've been super happy with the service I've received.

My car turns 6 in Jan so have just cancelled my current plan (I've only paid half and used more than half the servicing and MOT, they let me out for free still) and renewed with the black friday offer to maximise the time I can have it.

No brainer for me, but I can understand if your local dealer is a JCT or something you'd not want the hassle of using them.

Quick snap from yesterday. Initial impressions:

+ feels sharper, tighter and more nimble than the vRS. Clinical, but I like that;
+ was worried the 18”s would look small. They somehow look bigger than the 18”s on the vRS. Most likely due to the body shape around them;
- the amount of auto-enabled assist items. Can be turned off but default to on;
- that badge. Jesus H Christ.

Will do a thread later in the week as I’m off. And I’ll probably be craving more need by then.

Tbf that depends on just finding a decent dealer most are totally useless but a few good ones.

I’m pretty lucky, surrounded by 4 very rated specialists. I’m due a bit of work done shortly and i’ll be able to bounce between them pricing wise. Volkswagen on the whole, are largely f**king useless and over priced.

I've just bought a VCDS HEX V2 off Ali Express - anyone ever bought one and have any feedback? Only £15, not the £100+ RossTech charges so be a bonus if it works just as well.

I'd avoid any RossTech or owners forum. You'll get torn a new one for buying a fake 🤣.

I've got OBDeleven myself. Quite like it. Doesn't seem to work with really bew models. Yet, anyway. Really want that sound generator coded out.

Lol, they really don’t like it huh?

I’ve seen the OBDEleven. Just hate the fact you need a subscription to use it.

Not from my experience they don't.

I don't have a subscription to OBDeleven. Paid outright for the pro version. That was in 2016 though so maybe it's sub based now? Like everything else I guess.

Ah possibly mate. All I’ve heard is regarding the subscriptions. Maybe you got in before tho!

Does anyone have a 2017 or newer golf 2.0 tdi??

I’ve got this plug, that’s clearly been attached at some point. But for the life of me I can’t see where it goes.

This is it at full stretch, so it has to be in there somewhere.

What engine is it? 150ps ad Blue? I imagine it's newer than what's in the Yeti else I'd be happy to have a nose if it's a 140hp
