I wonder if pulls like a train originated by comparing to a trains obscene pulling power, a bit like @Louis on a night out.

The all new Ford Disappointment

Head to your dealer today and take advantage of a 48 hour lacklustre test drive.

Doesn’t that look like every other generic SUV type thing?
Take the badges off and it could be the Mustang thing, Kia thing or Hyundai thing.

Ford are just professional trolls at this point. f**k knows if it's actually working for them, but they've clearly decided that picking the most cherished historic model names to recycle as beige goods somehow generates more sales powered purely by internet rage.

IIRC they're platform sharing with VAG so we can probably look forward to the Ford Brooklands (a 7 seater SUV), the Ford Miura (a 9 seater minivan) and the Ford 964 RS (a 15 seater bus with optional euthanasia pack).

It's not even that it uses the name Capri, it's just that it's s**t. Look at it, it's what AI would draw as a generic 5 door suv thing!

Waste of metal.

My PT at the gym is taking a Crapri for a test drive this afternoon. I told him he's fired if he buys one. Such a bland looking thing it's disgusting of ford to use the iconic name on it. I hope every one they build catches fire.

It’s just A.N. other generic car, couldn’t care less about it. But people who are not so car focused may well like it. No doubt it will sell if it’s priced appropriately.

Folk are weird. It’s using the name of a car from 40odd yrs ago? Who cares, honestly, it’s a meaningless name for 99% of people under 40.

I think using the Mustang name was weirder, given that’s a name with actual heritage and meaning. But most of the people getting them see them as an appliance.

They should just do a Renault really, obviously not sticking to the exact blueprint but honouring the name and shape of their legacy cars but just in a modern format.

Electric Capri, Probe, Escort, Cortina, Granada etc would probably be more widely accepted if they actually based it on their older namesake but with modern tech, especially compared to their current stuff.

How does a smidge off 50 grand sound? or £3700 more than the VW that it's made from.
To be honest I’ve no interest in either.

It’s based on the ID5 I believe not the 4, ID5 starts at £41080 and the Capri starts at £42075 so it’s a grand more as a launch vehicle at entry point and RRP! It’s daft money for both of those cars in my opinion, but the rental will be the most important thing.

The ID4 and ID5 are essentially the same thing, to be honest you'd have a hard time telling the two apart.

but unless you're getting better prices than the rest of us:

I was just going off Autocar mate. I’m not as much of a virgin to need to spend hours looking too much into it. Especially when RRP means two parts of nothing with all this leased EV s**t

But for reference

I'm just going off what they put on their website, because I'm not so much of a virgin to be wasting my life on AutoCar.

What I don't understand about Ford is that they're releasing cars that all do basically the same job. In the last few years, they've released the Mustang Mach-E, the electric Explorer and now this Capri. They're all a similar size and all a similar price, so how are they doing anything other than competing with themselves?

I genuinely think that, within 10 years, Ford will only be selling vans and pick-ups in Europe. They've made a monumental c**k-up of their car business in the last five years.

I suppose the issue with that is that no one is buying saloons and coupes?

Except for the army of Model 3 Tesla's you see absolutely everywhere.

I think it's funny that everyone is rushing to produce ever greater numbers of big SUV's, because "that's what people want"
Tesla did produce a big SUV, no-one wanted it. Then they made a medium sized saloon, got the price/spec correct and sold more of them than all their competitors put together.
