The rack has been fitted with inner and outer Renault 172 tie rods and new boots, just needs painted now and bolted to the sub frame. Hopefully do that this weekend.

While making room in the garage the sub frame, rear beam and various other parts have found their way into the spare bed room to join the parts collected along the way. Plan is to have everything overhauled and ready just to bolt straight on the shell when done!

So what else is in the spare room?

- ast coilovers - wasn’t after a set but cooksport had a deal on them, including fitting so cut a deal just to get them delivered.

- pms ibt kit - bought ages ago from Renomotive. Because why not have a n/a singing!

- speedline 2118s in gold - again not what I was after but pms had a offer on 2 weeks ago so there here now 😂. Had many speedline wheels are there fanatic even of a bit heavy!

- pms exhaust- just night of a member on here, with both cat and de cat. Was always after one and it just popped up perfect timing.

- brand new Renault clutch, no point not changing it now.

Still a few bits to get but I do think I’ll have a well sorted Clio to keep for years and enjoy it!

Out tonight and gave the 2 front heat shields a good clean, came up ok, the others will take a bit more effort.

Then spent 2 hours making a start on cleaning up the rack, started with the drill and a brass wire wheel, then sand paper and finally a wire brush. About as good as it needs to be. Might hit it with lacquer see if it keeps its shine.

It’s been some time but the Clio is still here.
Still tucked up on the garage with plenty of work still to do but 2026 is here so time to get busy and posting updates to keep me motivated.

Towards the end of 2024 I took to climbing Munros and travelling up north meant the Megane got all the attention to bring her mechanically back to go nice useable standard to enjoy the Scottish roads.

A full suspension refresh (I’ve done the swivel joints 5 times now), b14 coilovers, pms stud/nut kit, spacers, wheel refurb and belts and fluids took money away from the Clio. But having the Meg to enjoy was worth it.

Paints terrible but at 140k the Meg never lets me down and is so much fun.

Ive played with the idea of selling one of the Renaults to fund the other, even selling both but can’t do it so time to crack on and hopefully have them both on the roads again.

Clio updates to follow

Now the Clio, I’ve finally got someone willing to do the sills and drivers rear arch. All parts are there ready to go.

I’ve been cleaning surface rust as I go and giving everything the full billet hamber treatment. Over the next mouth I’m going to focus on the engine bay, get the car rolling and away for welding.

Plenty of updates to come.

For now here some pictures of RUST 😂

Massive progress today 😂. Not really but had a spare hour so pulled the brake servo off for a refresh before it falls apart.

The mounting panel behind will get some love too while I’m in there. Got a few brackets needing a coat of Black aswell so I’ll prep everything and paint it all in one go.

While I was there chopped the air con pipes back, did think about fitting a cup heater box but a lot of hassle when I’ve plenty of work on my hands.

Changed the pollen filter too, new parts fitted so I’m counting that as a move in the right direction.

Going to focus this week getting the epas wiring all finished so I can put the dash back together.
