Well I don't own a gun.....so unless I managed to go full bore on em with a spanner lolThe specialist exact words were “Someone’s cross threaded this and just sent it with a gun. It’s really bad”
They are incredibly bad now after he forced them back onto the car. I’m 100% not touching the other side, the top mounts ok so it can be left alone.
I'm sure if I'd of done it, it would of pissed me off and I'd of just bought a new one. I rekkon you could run a die down it though and rethread itJust when i think i can’t get anymore unlucky with this bloody car.
Atleast this one wasn’t its fault. It may have been a specialist.
Hopefully mate, unless someone comes along and says it's not possible
I know they're only 12k miles but they're still 10 years old at least, so I'm not sure how they degrade over time?
Blimey. How did you remember that? I don’t know who I sold anything off that car too. Apart from the shell which went to Phteven.Shame the front shocks need replacing as they were 12k old cup shocks in 2018
Bought them from @JP83
God knows how I remembered mate tbfBlimey. How did you remember that? I don’t know who I sold anything off that car too. Apart from the shell which went to Phteven.
They also did bugger all mileage on my car![]()

Link please. Need some for my 182.Am I missing something here? The old shocks are fucked, they’ve sat around for a good while, just buy some more and some top mounts and crack on? I also don’t get the obsession with cup shocks?
Bilstein’s are like £38 a pop on autodoc
They’ll work and will be fine to drive ‘normally’ with, but I doubt they’re RS specific shocks. They’re compatible with lots of models.View attachment 1804288
Autodoc OEM part number cross reference says compatible with 8200681106 which is a 172/182 non cup shock and 8200681108 which is a 172 cup shock.
Two of them plus some new top mounts and it's sorted.
Hi, I'm in the same boat that you, I will like to refresh the suspension on my ph1, unfortunately N/A any original shocks, and I cannot justified the KONI shocks money.
Is there any reason you’re avoiding the sachs etc that euros list? A half decent brand with the right bolt spacing (can always order and measure in store before taking home) with some decent springs and you’re sorted.I’m definitely running a die down it. What is there to loose?
As for Kam, i found this thread on the forums from March. Ill give them and RPD and email about it too see when/if they have them.
The idea of some used coilovers is quite tempting now. In an ideal world i’d get some new ones but i can’t spend a wholes month wage in one go on this car currently. The Ktec ones seem to be the most readily available used ones. Anyone know what they are like? If i can’t get any or repair mine it’ll have to be some non RS ones.

My main reason to avoid the Sachs ones is what i read about them:Is there any reason you’re avoiding the sachs etc that euros list?
As for all the others on Euro, they don’t have the 54mm spacing. I’m guessing it’s the same for the rest of the part suppliers i haven’t already checked.Ordered a pair of Sachs and when they arrived they are some odd hybrid using 172 bolt spacing, but with smaller bolt holes that the standard bolt wouldn't fit anyway, on a non RS shock. a bit more digging online shows they are listed as fitment for both 1.2 16v and 2.0 16v which obviously makes no sense.
