So I’ve noticed a few times when I’m driving the car hard, I can’t shift into 4th at high rpm.. I have to let the engine speed die down before it will then engage.
I’m not getting any crunching, but somethings not right… so I suspect it could be the Synchromesh’s in the gearbox, clutch drag, or...
Fitted new JR Driveshafts to this car when I rebuilt it… and true to form, the flippin inner CV Boot split as it must have made contact with the corner of the engine block.. I did cut down the engine block to try & minimise the contact, but obviously didn’t work..
So I ordered a new SNR...
Took the Clio out for an hour this evening to warm up the fluids and make sure she was still running well.
WOW, Just WOW….
I’ve got to say, it’s a better and more involving drive than the Clio Raider… and with the cheeky mods I’ve done to it, think it’s actually faster as well…
Fallen back in...
Wipers off first
Then remove the 2 screw clips on the right and left hand sides of the scuttle panel.
Next pull off the rubber seal from the front edge of the scuttle panel.
Scuttle panel will then lift off.
You will then see you can remove the front scuttle panel moulding by removing the shock...
I got recommended to have a look at the scuttle area as these cars suffer from blocked drains. Whipped the scuttle panel off this evening and found a good 9 years of grot:
And a nice blocked scuttle drain and pool of black stagnant water on the off-side:
A couple of hours of scrubbing soon had...
Yeah I can see what swayed you to the M2 😉
Funny how Renault sold Raider no1 recently, I also saw the ad and hummed and hawed, but couldn’t justify the price it was up for.
You still got yours??
What with all the excitement and Love going into the new Clio Raider, my wife and I, took the little blue fighter out for a drive this afternoon.
Still love this little car VERY much and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Purely by chance, this evening I got an update on the...
Love that this car is super original with all the OE brackets, cable clips and stickers present and correct. However the engine bay is a little bit grimy from 75,000 miles of daily usage so wanted to spruce it up a bit.
As you’ve seen on some of my other builds, my usual course of action is to...
Have noticed a little notch in the 4th gear when I’m driving the car... with spirit..
Chatted to the CS Gearbox Guru Mr @NorthloopCup and he recommended I change the fluid for some Redline MTX and bleed the clutch hydraulic line:
Did that this evening, and took the car out for a run. Noticed...
I’m sucker for a private numberplate... and one evening toying with umpteen different configurations on the DVLA website and was 99% going to go for RA10 ERA which with a bit of sly spacing, and a squint, could read RAIDER A...
That was until I saw this plate for sale at the same reasonable...
Phoned my dent-guy up today to see if he was working/available this coming weekend. Tells me that he’s free today if I take it over..
£30 quid later and a bit of stretched metal, and the dent was a gonner
The longer I look at this car, the more I’m lovin’ the Matt Red paintwork. Looking...
Thank you sir!
I’m not too bothered about the reg of the RB, that’s my private reg. I’m only hiding the Red one until I fit the new number I bought.. 😉
Well just over 24 hours of ownership and I’ve already dismantled the bugger!!
Wanted to see what the deal was with the dent on the rear qtr, and see if my local dent-man would be able to get behind it? Of course, it’s a Renault, loads of open space back there!! Tried to take a pic of the dent...
😁😁 I see where you going with that! Unfortunately it’s not #1 I’ve got, but I did see that Renault sold it recently, and it was up for like 12K 😲 Bit rich for me that!!
The R26? No I sold that in March to one of my mates who fell in love with it during a few laps of Blyton at CS19 😉
Very comfortable & grown up compared to the Clio 182.. just as the motoring press says. It's stiff as F**k on the roads, but there's no creaks or rattles so it seems well put together.
Not really driven in in any sort of anger yet, as I let my mate drive it home whilst I was in the 182. When I...
Yes mate, was going to give you a knock up, but was in & out early doors and didn’t want to break any covid bubbles.
Did steal a quick pic at one of your best photo-shoot spots tho.. 🤫😉
When Renault launched the Clio Raider in the UK, they used my 5GTT Raider for a feature in Auto Express magazine:
And since then, I had a secret hankering to own a Clio Raider one day and complete my collection of Raiders.... but given the original planned run of 50 Cars in the UK, I figured...
Well @Coops Mk1 does not speak with forked tongue 🐍 Had a flippin awesome bank holiday weekend driving around the Derbyshire Dales in the Clio and she just relished it:
It has certainly made an impression on me this little car, so much so I even gave it a clean when I got home this evening to...
Got it all done so I can drive and enjoy it round Badgerland this weekend.. 8:00am tomorrow morning, we set off to Ashbourne.
Mind you, whilst re-assembling the front bumper this morning, I saw the new JR Driveshaft has split it’s inner CV boot, so it’s deposited a nice load of axle grease all...
Cycled the 28 miles over to near Cambridge today to collect the Clio and it was simply Wonderful... Sun shining, bit of frost on the fields... I felt like bloody Forest Gump when he was running across the USA!! 😂
Stopped at Maccie D’s for a protein rich energy bar... ok, it was a Sausage & Egg...
