When I bought my first one back in 2001 it was because the 172 had had amazing reviews and I could get a brand new one with 6miles on it for £10999 and I couldn’t go any faster for that price.
Since then I’ve had 2 x mk2 ph1
1 x mk2 172 cup...
I went with the brembo conversion on the mk2. They are good round track and never have any brake fade...it’s the tyres giving up now!
I have found that having a decent race pad in the rear calipers does make a difference to running standard pads.
I went from CL rc5 rear pads to standard as...
My track Clio.. not had it on track this year as not had spare funds but been to a few tracks over the years.
It’s in its second guise now.
Ph1 body..ph2 front subframe..Cup wishbones..182 hubs.
high comp bottom end
Itb’s
Quife diff
Pms shifter
Stripped and caged
AST’s
Oil cooler
Mk3 Brembo...
The odyssey battery’s are great as long as they are never fully discharged as they can’t recover. I’m on my second one now as i didn’t realise how quickly they discharge while powering the alarm/ immobiliser and central locking.
I try not to leave my car more than a week with out a drive so it...
Clio 200
Money saved...spend on modifying Clio for track...fit a diff...racing brake pads/lines...super charger..decent coil overs all round..bucket seats...strip interior...keep radio/electric windows/head lining for comfort!
Enjoy for Sunday morning blasts and trackdays
I can’t (probably as I’m thick) find them.
Behind the fuel flap there are a couple of plastic bungs that keep the fuel flap flush with the body work...mine are missing and it’s grating on me now!
Can I get replacement ones or do I have to fit a whole new fuel flap assembly?
Pound for pound a diff fitted to these will make the most difference out of all modifications your thinking about also cost less too.
Wouldn’t bother with 182 manifold as no real gain..pretty sure they are good for mid range toque not high top end.
Never really got the RS2.. yes you get to...
I’ve been looking at that rear brake kit too?
Be good to hear your thoughts on it if you do go for it...also looking forward to the new spec Clio ??
Good luck with the rest of the build..bit of weld will stop those nuts from spinning!!
Yes it’s worth it but best to do it when having belts changed as it’s almost two birds in one.
I’ve got no quarmes going to ktec for cams and map but others have.
Gutted for you! Been there and done that..well... not quite rolling over just backwards into a barrier at Thuxton on tower. not fun.
Had to re shell the engine/subframes and other good parts as my shell was too bent...would of cost too much to repair and even if I did it would have never been...
Actually love this exclusive ?? by any chance have you also gone to pure motorsport for the head?
I’m wanting to get a new head as I’m due belts..I just have a standard head and cams. Just interested in what you have gone for?
Cheers
