I have used AMDetails in the past and cannot complain but recently been using a load more GTechniq products and their foam is great from what I have done with it so far.
Anyone used or know of any good soft top waterproofer?
I’ve used GTechniqs Smart Fabric when I bought my Z3 but either it’s not the best for roofs or I didn’t put enough on as it hasn’t lasted long
Seeing as hen's teeth are more common than a decent set of arch liners, what have people used as alternatives?
I've taken mine off (the usual they were damaged, broken, fixings were toast and been cut and drilled out and the one dragged on the road if it wasn't cable tied up, plus it makes...
This is my Ph1 172 that was meant for a restoration back to standard to use daily but ended up being a bit of a track car…whoops.
Was based in Gloucestershire so have done Castle Combe a lot as well as Llandow over the years. Took this around Donington Park the other year too.
Now has ITBs...
I looked at it but wasn’t wanting to pay the price for it at the time. Although my stance might change!
Extender arrived the other day, need to fit it over the weekend.
So the one good thing about something like ChatGPT is you can ask it things like “make me a Java spring boot app with X, Y and Z” or along those lines and it will give you a good framework to start from. It won’t be perfect but it’s a starting point. Same when you see an error, good as a...
The amount of times people say “we need AI” and really they don’t is a lot. It’s just a buzz word and people think they have to have it to be seen as cool and trendy (which for tech firms they think they have to be seen to do these crappy things….innovation sprints, tech festivals, talks...
Also you say IT sector is that any job for someone that make IT stuff? As the company I work for we write software as our main money earner (we bid for customer work, make software, hand it over kind of thing) but there has been a bit of a push within the company to be like "I never thought...
My first job after uni was science research (x ray radiography in hydrodynamic experiments so proper nerd stuff) and I did some basic coding for computational models and analysis. I swapped to do data science a few years later and that role was a bit of a waste as the closest I came to data...
Agree with having the interior. My first Ph1 172 I removed all interior and while it never really bothered me I didn't want to do it on my current one.
Old one has everything removed and painting the insides a grey colour and just had two rubber floor mats in the front
And the new one. Plan...
Bought a TP Link AV600 Powerline, hopefully turning up Tuesday. Will see if this place's old (and probably backwards) electrics will handle it!!
I should also add I can only get 3MB internet where I have moved to, not had to work from home yet or if a Teams call will actually work, but...
Because of the distance it needs to cover or other factors?
For me I could plug the extender directly above the router on the landing as the router is n the lounge below then it’s about 10m max down the upstairs hallway (line of sight down the hall) to my office.
And it just goes through the...
The wifi signal in my new office is a bit pants, furthest point away from the router and thick stone walls do not help. Need to get a wifi extender, although the ones on Amazon are a bit confusing

All the negative reviews say they are...
Got the Clio to the new house. Driving it down the lane was questionable! Not really suited to a track focused car....
Now sat in it's new spot on my drive way, which is where it will stay until the spring. Couldn't ask for a better view for when tinkering on it! When the weather improves in...
Second the PMS top mounts. I’ve had two 172’s with them and they do the job well.
Easy to fit. Drill three holes in each mounting point for them. It if you want to use the PMS strut brace make sure you drill them the right orientation.
And I think if you need a different option for them to...
Anyone know of a metal sump guard under tray that would fit a mk2 Clio? Was driving the Ph1 around the lanes my new place and it likes to bottom out and thought a metal one would help a bit more protection. It doesn’t help that the standard plastic one I have is damaged on the back edge and it...
Did notice there was a bit of oil on top of the catch tank, like it had been leaking from the lid. The little tube gauge thing on the side isn't showing any oil and there isn't much in the tank at all. So it must be coming out of the lid. It is a Torques one and I did notice someone post on here...
I have been really poor at using my Ph1 over the summer, just got busy with other things. Took it to work a few times and that was about it. Not really done much on it either.
After taking the back seats out I put a load of soound deadening material in the back. Had to wire wheel some rust off...
Yes I have, I need to find who does it. Or through the council but I need to move first for that I am sure I read as then I’ll be paying their council tax. The girlfriends brother knows someone who might have space in their unit (they paint and fabricate cars which will be very useful!).
Sounds ideal then. I’ll take a look at them when I’m next in Halfords as forking out over £450 for three car covers is a bit excessive.
Well the E34 is the one I’m most worried about being outside. Currently lives in a carpeted garage lol. The paint is a bit thin in places being so old so...
That looks ideal for the Clio and Z3, will get one of them. I usually chuck some dehumidifiers in it anyway over the winter.
What is the underside of it like? Is it that soft layer to stop it rubbing on paintwork? Wondering if this would also work well for something a bit more heavy duty to...
I am in need of a good all year car cover for all my cars as I am moving house and I wont have a garage 😭 It is really for the E34 and another for the Z3 at the moment after seeing the price of some but wouldn't mind getting the Clio one in the near future.
Needs to be for all weather, rain...
Arch liners are the ones at the moment! I too am after some but refuse to pay the silly hundreds of pounds for what Renault used to sell for about £50 (although rumours is that the Polish place that used to make them for £150 a pair have been told to stop by Renault and they are going to do them...
I used to daily my old Ph1 172 and that was in track spec (no interior, bucket seats, coil overs...) and it was perfectly fine. Despite being a little loud that got a bit tiresome on long journeys (long I mean >3hrs) but I just wore ear plugs. Mine got to 170k miles and apart from the power...
Not sure on the pads, whatever that my DA came with! It’s not a fancy one but has been fine for what I’ve done.
Good advice on not going too mad, thanks! I might give the polish I linked a go then and see.
These marks are almost out, they just needed something a little more than the polish I...
