Need to remove some scratces and marks from my dad's car. I gave it a good going over with Menzerna Heavy Cut and it got so far, removed most of them but there were a few which wre just a bit too deep and this stuff wasn't quite getting there but it looks like they would come out. It is like I...
I remember on my old Ph1 I needed a CV boot for it. So went to the Ford gargae to order a genuine Renault item - yes the Ford dealership, if you go to the Renault dealership they send you to Ford down the road but if you phone up for parts then you collect from Renault...explain that one. Turns...
What are people using for leather cleaning, protection and conditioning?
I’ve inherited some generic conditioner that I’m about to finish and the Gyeon leather stuff I have (cleaner and protector) and want to try something else. I did find the Gyeon ok on the car seats but it sort of zapped...
When I had the cam belt done in mine the garage (ex Renault dealer) said mine was an early one. I got it with the plate W601XGP but they found out it was actually registered as W1END. He said it was registered really early too, sure he said March. He was surprised how early it was registered as...
Oh the noise. It’s glorious. I really want to do the 6 cylinder engine on my E34 as that will sound epic. I sort of priced a kit up for it….then looked at the “gains” and the only actual gain was noise, pretty poor power increase for it
I made 199bhp in my Ph1 172 with the following:
KTec ITBs
Megane 225 injectors
4 bar fuel pressure regulator (easier on a Ph1 engine as the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail so I didn’t have to change the fuel pump)
Had new coil pack, spark plugs, Magnecore HT leads, cam belt and...
I have the PMS fuel pressure regulator housing and the Bosch FPR that is an option to it
https://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/clio-2-ph1-172/engine.html?p=8
Shouldn’t need the housing if you are running the standard Ph1 fuel rail
I ended up hard wiring my TPS into the loom (probably kit the best idea but I’ll get around to fitting a plug…probably). Turns out the newer TPS from KTec is for a Ph2 (as from what I was told by them their ITB kit essentially is) as the GEN90 is a Ph2 ECU hence all the pin changes required on...
It was your pictures and comments that made me get a 4 bar one. That was the other reasoning about it and having an extra capacity for performance if required.
Tbh I’ve not checked but seeing as I’ve got an external fan switch now it doesn’t matter. I thought it would be fine but obviously not...
I was reading some other builds of a similar set up and they were running higher FPR’s. And the fuel rail was a bit of bling really! I still need to sort out the fuel lines to it as I’m still not happy with them, but I’m not doing a full braided lines that are rerouted in the car….yet. I do...
Cut mine off with a grinder the other week.
Positive - there is now not a hole to the outside as it is currently has the threaded from this bolt in like with the other seat mounting bolts.
Negative - I can't get the thread out without welding a nut to it. Will I get around to welding a nut to...
That will be worth saving, maybe not now but in the medium to long term certainly. Especially if a full job of stripping it right back and doing the underside.
Every since fitting my ITBs I’ve never been 100% happy with the fuel hoses. They work and do the job but I’m sure there is a better way.
I’ve got the KTec billet fuel rail and running an external fuel pressure regulator. But it’s where I have connected the new parts to the original hoses that I...
Need to wash the E34 and not washed a car that has been ceramic coated before. I messaged GTechniqs as it has the CSL and Evo v5 coating about what they reccomend to wash and maintain. They said to:
Tar remover and rinse
All purpose cleaner and rinse
Snow foam and rinse
Shampoo and rinse
Dry...
Back seats removed and a little clean up in there.
The middle bolt holding the seat backs down put up a fight and had to go to my brothers to grind it off. Will weld a nut to it to remove the threaded part at a later date.
Seats and belts will be for sale shortly, just need to write an...
Was this a KTec kit? As from what I am aware they do a connector that goes between the TPS and the loom.
Also what ECU are you running as I had issues with my TPS but that was mainly because it was a Ph1 and their loom is different to a Ph2. I’ve got some details kicking about somewhere about...
Tbh it’s done 8k miles in the 3 years I’ve had it, most of which have been summer and dry days. I had noticed some rust around the arch lip but not bubbling around it like you can get. I did look down the inner sills when I bought it and it was good and chucked a load of Kurust down then for...
MoT test passed yay 🎉
Oh balls, it’s started 😭
For sale: one kidney
Tbh it was the next job on the list to do really. I’ll probably sell the standard seats (front need a re-trim) to help cover the costs as keeping it OEM went out the window many many months ago, probably when I fitted bucket...
Ok so I think this is broken.....just filled it up, first time after fitting thr ITBs and it has returned 35.63mpg 😲 I will admit this was mainly due to a trip from home to Manchester and back sat on the M5/M6 when I went to the other office for work last month. But still it has done 319 miles...
I made 199bhp on my Ph1 172 with the KTec ITB kit. That was standard internals but Megane 225 injectors and a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator.
Catcams will be happening at the next cam belt change. Told to go for Catcam 423 if I can put up with a lumpy idle.
How are the batteries holding out in everyone’s watches?
I’ve got an SE I bought in 2020 and these past few days the battery has been awful. I don’t wear it at work but leave it in a locker next to my phone. Left for work and it was on 78% and 7hrs later it’s on 48% and that is doing nothing...
Fitted the fan over ride switched. Went full race car and removed the stereo and speakers.
Really do need to sort the centre trim out too but it’s a dash out job and I really cba until I need to remove it!
Fan issue resolved. With the help of my brother we fitted a Revotec fan controller and over ride switch. The bung in the side of the radiator was the same size as one of the fitting options so that was the best solution (the one from PMS was a self seal thing after inserting it through a pipe...
I was at the Morgan factory the other week and they had all their cars on show. They are some serious bits of kit these three wheelers. Look really well made too.
I've used Gyeon Q2 Quartz stuff. I have been impressed with it. Only went for that one as it boasted like a heat rating of like 800deg and wanted something for track wheels. Brake dust doesn't bake in and easily rinses off with little effort.
I am looking at ceramic coating my cars but before I go out and buy the stuff I have been eying up a curveball has been thrown in the mix.
Plan was to do the E34, the 60 and maybe the Clio if there is any left over.
I have used AMDetails Hybric Ceramic Wax at the moment and have used it for a...
Possibly, I can’t be certain though. But not sure if it is because it’s a Ph1 and slightly different set up than the Ph2 so I just have to deal with it. I’ve bought an external fan controller to go in the radiator bung with an over ride switch so this should sort the fan out. Just not sure why...
