Not sure how long he would take for your car, mine's a 2 litre 182 (and that is a dog of a job apparently).
Yours should be easier.
Best to call him and see how you feel in relation to the respective prices (his and the dealer's). Gives you a chance to quiz him on what else he thinks you need...
Probably cambelt kit, auxiliary belt kit, waterpump plus if you need any basic servicing while it's in (oil, filter, air filter .....).
Take advice from Fred on it. Pretty much everyone on here does and he knows these cars inside out.
I think he should just about be back from his recent vacation.
If you're in Leamington, give Fred at BTM Performance a call. Based near Brum airport. Call him as he is a very busy man and you'll get a straight quick answer.

If you're that close, it's a no-brainer. I have a cherished car and he is the only...
True this, on the whole. It is funny when you see a 5-year old car with say, 15,000 miles (like the one I bought!) with FRSH. That actually meant a couple of oil changes and filters in that time(!) so when I got it, everything had to be done (front pads, discs, brake fluid, oil, coolant)...
Is Bedford close to you?
Sideways Danny (519 Automotive) gets very good reviews on here and seems to have the cambelt (and general Renaultsport) knowledge down to a "t".
He's on the traders listing and this is an extract of his contact details:
It's well worth getting to know the right...
I had a similar situation. The trader wouldn't discount the car at all for the price of the cambelt change, insisted his guy do it. I met the guy and I got some reassurance from the fact that his first words were "I hate doing cambelts on those" as he had done a few before.
Anyway, I got the...
Absolutely serious answer. If it is standard, do nothing mod-wise for about a month. Drive it and appreciate it for what it is. They are very very good.
Immediately, look at what its service status is, has it had the cambelt done on time, other fluids, filters and lubes. If in doubt (e.g...
I believe it is one of the feeds to the airbox (i.e. standard airbox) - people remove one to get more noise.
I have no better idea than that as I never play around with the car.
Here's the extract from his post. I hope he won't mind. It's anonymous anyway.
Some people might be surprised by this. I have always said, leave the cars alone.
"Eventually gave up with the fault finding for the slight lack of response and power from the trophy myself so I handed it over to...
Here's one from someone who, admittedly, knows very little about mechanics, have you disconnected or is the acoustic valve disconnected?
A guy on Clio Trophy suddenly had a badly running Clio Trophy (lacking power, a bit moody) and he pretty much changed/cleaned everything he could think of.
He...
Yep, lazy car trader. They just need to shift stuff to make a living. As said in my earlier post, don't rely on them, do your researach. If you don't like the car (or them), look at another.
Agree with this. This is my personal approach.
However, if somebody wanted what he is selling, they would presumably ring and say "I would only be willing to pay £X because .."
I have done that when I think it can be justified. It may be that no-one wants that car in the time it's been for...
He's a car salesman! Buyer beware and all that. He might not know that much about the Renaultsport range, not that that makes it any better.
I think the advert is incorrect. I am not sure he is necessarily lying as such. He may be referring to it being mechanically standard. So many car adverts...
That's playing a dangerous game. Not much point in people giving you a value if they are not going to buy it!
How long has it been for sale?
It may be that the colour or spec (I know it's a limited ed) could be an acquired taste. It's an unusual colour and most people at this price point will...
So true. Made me laugh.
The other (similar one) I see a fair bit is where more mature ladies drive along behind a bus, bus pulls up, two or three people get on the bus, the mature lady stares at the back of the bus, then just as the bus is ready to pull out, she indicates and drives round it...
Seriously though, with good reason (especially the noise nuisance).
I'm not speaking without experience either, I have had a louder exhaust on previous cars (i.e. a fairly soft stainless replacement) but they just do nothing for me.
I don't mind a fruitier subtle note but sheer noise I don't get...
Would one of the custom places make one up for you (Powerflow or whatever they are called)? I am not a fan of them but if it is a pipe you need.
There must be one in your region?
