How fun is a 182 as a daily?

I think the fact so many people on here have had so many 1*2s or have come back to them is all the evidence you need.

How fun is a 182 as a daily?

Yeah I agree, I've done Kent, York and Oxford to my house on the South Wales border, all three were hard work by the end of the journey.

How fun is a 182 as a daily?

I had either a daily valver, ph1 172 or cup packed 182 for nearly 15 years, all made perfect daily drivers for my 40 mile a day commute on rural twisty roads. I have a few hairy moments over the years including having to be towed home in heavy snow in the 182. Many happy miles!

    Saving another 172.

Yeah if I could stick my underside on it would be a winner! Would actually be interested if your not wanting 'detailed' prices though

    Saving another 172.

I've just noticed the weird Clifford alarm and the lack of a standard alarm bonnet switch, did some 172s not get them fitted at the docks then? What that car is screaming out for is a selector leak, I'm sure it's in its plans at some point! Not bitter here...not one bit!😆

    Saving another 172.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm happy for you or pissed that I've spent the last two years trying to tidy my flamer up, I'm not sure it will ever be as tidy as this one. Fancy a swap? It doesnt even look faded like mine😫

    Removing handbrake cables from tunnel

Oh have fun doing this! I'm not sure it's possible to remove them without breaking the tabs that clip into the tunnel.

    Battery drain

Dont forget to clamp the passenger door switch in the shut position as you'll need access to the fuses from the passenger side.

    Multi tool recommendation please

I've got a Makita 240v with quick release blades. I decided against a battery version as it's a tool I use for my day job sporadically so I can see me having it for years, by that point battery technology will undoubtedly have moved on possibly making a cordless obsolete - I've got so many relic...

    Painting new wishbones/tie rods

Yeah for the price of them youd expect some better protective packaging. I can't decide whether to spray the ball joints or just dynax them

    Inner tie rod tool

Anyone doing inner tie rods, i found the 28-35mm slip on tool to remove and replace them at a pretty good price compared to Ebay and Amazon. £21.99 delivered from Tool Dealer

    Rusty’s Titanium 182 take 2!

I have thought of it but I've let it get so far behind it would take ages to get to where I am. Let's hope the summer allows some fun and my gearbox magically seals itself

    Painting new wishbones/tie rods

I've got dynax UB in the garage, just wondered if it would be a bit tacky...in a sticky way! Why can't Renault (or their suppliers) paint ball joints? Just raw cast, always thought it wouldnt take much for they to get some protection on them, I know they are essentially a consumable part but...

    Painting new wishbones/tie rods

Renault have done a good job of chipping a lot of the paint off my new wishbones, before I fit them I was thinking of painting them and the inner tie rods. Would simple rattle can gloss black be sufficient or is there something better to use, not wanting the expense or delay of powdercoat...

What have you done to your car today ???

Nothing...yet, but I've had a few deliveries. Wishbones, track rod ends and inner tie rods, inner and outer powerflex arb bushes and braided front brake lines. Oh not forgetting the tie rod removal tool, just need some nicer weather!
