Re: Rare 06 plate 182 what's it worth
Need much more info. As you say (and as these replies with no context show) prices are all over the place.
* Are you up north (-£500 from value asking price) or down south (+£500 to asking price)
* Has it got both cup packs? (suspension & splitter)
* Has...
For anyone searching this in years to come...
Two M12 x 1.5mm PITCH (!!!) worked an absolute charm for separating the disc from the remains of a bearing :p Nip up against hub and them breaker bar/rattle gun them a few turns at a time.
That extra bit of force in the correct direction...
FML. I would not describe the new one as "slid on nicely without force" on the side that I did manage to get off either! Going to attempt to get it off and put a little more copper grease on.
That would explain it. One side came off (eventually) and I couldn't see a spacer, just assumed it had...
...said the specialist :p
No in all seriousness having tried a butane torch on the bearing itself (for a few seconds I may add!) the disc became brittle enough to eventually fail on the 9000th hit.
I'll have a look for one. I used a rubber mallet (which only served to f*** the bearing more...
Failed MOT on wheel bearing. Bought 2x OEM rear discs inc. the conical spacers. Tried:
* Tap rotate tap rotate tap rotate tap rotate etc
* 2x pry bar between disc and hub from opposite sides simultaneously
* Butane torch on stub axle/bearing
* Slide some 10mm thick steel between disc and...
Just a stab in the dark - was it posted in an inappropriate section? (Just like this thread ideally belongs in Forum Questions & Feedback )
If you haven't already, read the "For Sale" rules as it will probably answer your question...
To be fair it will make a fair bit of the 10 PS difference between a 172 and a 182, but whether a few BHP (way less than 5%) is noticeable is debateable.
Virtually all the threads I've found have either failed everything miserably or failed CO by fairly big numbers (10%, not 0.something). I can read the emissions print out and search for similar threads but I'd like to know what failing particular aspects can mean.
Anyway, what are the symptoms...
Car failed MOT on emissions. Catalytic converter is the cheapest thing on the list (had new lambda sensors etc) Options so far:
* Renault (see this post and LOL)
* Cats2u.co.uk £90 ish (anyone used them, will it fall apart or massively reduce power?)
* ReactCatalysts.co.uk £160 (anyone used...
But it's a £4000 car once you get 4x decent tyres & a cup spoiler.
That's nearing an entire £1000 more than one bought privately with a bit of patience...
As above, a large majority of the Clios in rallying are ex "cup racer" cars & a lot of the rallycross stuff is converted/modified from the old S1600 cars (i.e. ex national rally championship type stuff)
Oversteer would be associated with the rear pressures being too high compared to the front, which is the "odd" way around (usually, with the front wheels being driven and doing the majority of the work during cornering and braking, you'd expect the fronts to spiral upwards if anything)...
You say it's "got" twitchy, what did you have in there before?
You should have a higher pressure in the fronts compared to the rears for a balanced car (to compensate for the front heavy weight distribution). Look on the sticker inside the passenger door, IIRC it recommends a cold pressure of...
Needing a new set of tyres - £400
Needing both belt kits & dephaser - £700
Also due air filter, plugs etc - £100
Needing stainless exhaust - £200
Soon to need new discs & pads all round - £200
Nearly run out of tax - £240
The above is just routine consumables, could be loads of reasons why it's...
The same reason everything in motorsport has a NACA duct (and the reason the R19 had one)...
Most efficient shape for air intake vs drag. Probably for cooling the rear callipers.
Not to hi-jack as this could also help the OP...
I found squeezing the ktp-445 into my my 182 a complete nightmare! Where are you guys, who are saying it's a 2 min install, putting it?
Note I have a stalk adaptor already taking up space, and did not take the dash off. Ended up pushing the...
Stopping the speakers playing too much bass is simple enough. Hit the "sound" settings button on the head unit, scroll along to "HPF" and set it to 200 (Hz) if/once you've got the subwoofer, or anything from 60-100 Hz depending on how good the door speakers are, until you get a subwoofer.
If...
Snap those up ^^^^
Getting a set of useable arch liners is in my experience frustratingly difficult:
* £80 a set from Renault
* Virtually the first items to get sold when a car is being broken
* Rarely come in pairs due to accident damage
* People send you ones with the self-taping...
Yes.
In a nutshell. Bearing in mind simply unbolting the suspension and bolting it all back up will change geometry slightly. More likely, if the ball joint has a lot of play in it, then every time you try to measure setup, you'll get different values if the car has moved anywhere in between.
Nothing is "supposed" to be there if it's an early (manufactured 2001) 172.
The connectors are for ESP (introduced very late 2001) and Cruise Control/Speed Limiter (introduced 2004).
IIRC the connectors are already there in early cars even though they don't have the above features. Not sure if...
I think this thread might be about to turn silly.
IMO no-ones done anything horrendously wrong or lost out massively here? I'm sure Mick would have appreciated a bit more notice of a cancellation, society would have liked the customer to stick with one good tradesman to build/reward trust...
Can't you use the 7 day cooling off period to cancel the insurance (without incurring any charges, so long as you do it within 7 days) and search around for the best deal.
I thought you were only allowed one recall on these.
I'm sure IIRC the recall letter stated that you would get a new catch FOC, plus FOC inspections but that if you fail to have inspections & maintain the FOC catch then you bear the cost of subsequent catches.
