If I was going RWD again I would build another Avenger with an engine conversion of some sort as my old one had a zetec in it. I have never had reliability issues with any of the so called fragile cars I have had and moving to a bmw would be a backwards step as there to heavy and no less money...
Thanks for your inputs guys. I have narrowed it down to 2 options.
Keep the Twingo and fight tooth and nail to get funds to go rallying or sell up.
I just can't get excited about other forms of motorsport.
Sprints don't offer enough seat time and to much sitting about.
Hilclimbs same as above...
It's already got just under 200kg out of it lol. I think I just need to sell it and let someone develop it.
The yellow 2.0 one is in a mag feature that I did have but can't find it now lol.
I would be interested in the 2.0 n.a ones if there is and build threads on them.
I ain't going rallying anymore as it's turned into even more of a rich man's sport. At a bit of a loss what to actually do with it tbh.
So all evidence points to my Twingo being slow :(.
Is there any info on the cars that have been used to collect the info? Not on fb so couldn't see the one linked above.
I have done tagas and there are nothing like that one on sweet lamb in the video! Think there is some cheeky edits in that video to make it look faster than they are and the white subaru is a well known car that also does stage rallys. It's a old group n car with the engine swapped to a 2.5 na...
So my Twingo is sat in a shed and hasn't realy moved for years. I was building the car to continue rallying after I had sold my Puma but after 4 years I have fallen out of love with rallying due to the realisation that I won't be able to rally again because of the financial side of going stage...
Is that Alistair quoting? His car always goes like s**t off a shovel so may know of some valves that are 1 piece. It's a nice drive over to his garage!
There is currently a nice gt taga/road rally car on ebay all ready to go. I am also putting my 133/163 Twingo up for sale (currently just doing the ad) that would make an excellent all round rally car for stage, taga or road rallying. Especially for road rallys the torque from the 1.2 turbo...
Definitely people still stuck in the "good old days". ALL the s**t that goes on in motor clubs is a put off also, I would never join another. Younger people go to one meeting see and listen to the old boys talking b****cks and never go back.
I have decided not to do any rallying this year and don't even think I will bother getting back into it tbh. The lack of good events and navigators are the stumbling blocks for me personally. I have no interest in doing race track rallys and it will take time for good closed road events to come...
Looking good. I have shelved my plans for doing any rallying this year also. Still got our accommodation booked for Mull so still going for a few weeks holiday. I am struggling to find a navigator to work with also.
Ah see. I just have a spare set you could of borrowed and tried if they just bolted up without all the rest needed doing. I think the 133 set up looks similar to a mk3 clio 197/200
All that display stuff looks amazing and way above my head! Bet you can't wait to get it mapped and out on track. 2 weeks today until I go and get mine mapped and can't wait.
There a mitsubishi colt underneath. Mitsubishi evo suspension fits so does the floor pan if you want to make them 4wd. They are utterly shite! There is also a coupe version.
Looks ok tbh. I am at EFI 2 weeks before you for my mapping session. If you ever need anything measuring off a 133 let me know as I am more than happy to help you out if you need it.
Best setup I would think would be to get it corner weighted as there is probably a good chunk of extra weight at the front now. Somewhere like avo, bilstein ect would be able to advise on spring rates for the front. I think rears will be pretty similar to standard. I am not quite sure what to do...
It's going purely down to money unfortunately. I am now doing 450 miles a week and only getting 37mpg. I have been given a deisel yaris to use for now saving on tax and fuel as going to be 100pm and to me that's a lot of money. Also the money from the sale can go towards getting my Twingo...
Just while I think on. Did you ever look into a 1.6 turbo Renault /Nissan engine for fitment? Just this would be my next step the way rally classes are going.
