If you damage your iphone book an appointment with the genius bar at a local apple retailer (see their website) and you can buy a refurbished phone from them for much less then a new one would cost. :) I have done this with the gf's iphone when the screen got cracked.
What's wrong with the 106? The Clio will be slower and not much fun I wouldn't have thought. Xsi's are awesome little cars for 8v engines both the 1.4 and 1.6 I used to have a 1.6 with a fast road cam in Miami blue which was dyno'd @ 116bhp was good fun! Hope the Clio is good for you though, any...
When you say a rumble is it more of a vibration through the car or a noise? Once moving does the noise go away? I would personally check all your plugs are fitted tightly and all the leads pushed on and making a good connection. Quite common for clios to "pop" spark plugs out the cylinder head...
Re: F**K F**K F**K Heads gone!Valve timing unit help needed.
A local independant garage that is competent will easily be able to work on your engine, yes the 172 is a bit different in some respects to what they are probably used to, but its not rocket science...
Hope you can find somewhere...
Re: F**K F**K F**K Heads gone!Valve timing unit help needed.
You can buy running engines off ebay for under a grand, there where quite a few the last time I looked (about 3 weeks ago).
No garage should be charging that much, unless of course they simply do not want the job so are increasing...
Have you got a picture of the problem? You may be able to cable tie it on but a picture of the fault, so we can offer some suggestions may get a quicker response. :)
Is the lack of a bolt causing any problems? Air leaks etc? As I had a similar problem on a friends 172 and his caused no problems so it was just left... It is not ideal, but you can use some plumbers tape wrapped around the original bolt thread to "thicken" it slightly as a temporary fix...
My 172 has been doing this recently, the mpg dropped and the fuel range was also low even after a refuel. It is now in the garage having an uprated cylinder head and a few other upgrades so hopefully will be a bit better when it comes out, if not at least it will have the performance to match...
I guess you couldn't see the colour of the smoke? Although if it was dark and you could clearly see it it may well have been white.
It could be something simple like a hose split and leaked down onto the exhaust so you wouldn't always get steam from the bonnet when moving (not often though) or...
Yeah, I second the eagle f1 tyres had them on a few previous ones and they were always good. If the Toyo's had been the T1-R ones though, I would choose them everytime.
I will also add that one cylinder is also down on compression slightly so perhaps it will increase in bhp once its been fixed? (Exhaust vavle burnt out).
Car pulls really strongly in all gears, the exhaust valve must be a small problem with it as it only affects the car at idle and on...
Do a compression test, just to rule out any internal problems... Mine turned out to be low compression on cylinder 3 so suspect a exhaust valve has burnt. :(
Not sure I'll be able to make the karting event I'm afraid... :( Was involved in a car crash a couple of weeks back and my back is still giving me problems so will have to sit this one out I'm afraid... :(
I usually work weekends, so was looking forward to enjoying some driving time in the 172 this weekend, first off I was going to try to find the problem behind my misfire and high emissions, after checking everything that I could (injectors, coilpack, spark plugs, ht leads) I did a compression...
JonC - what was your idle like and did it misfire? It was quite hot and had been driven hard for a while before the hc were checked... I am going to check the injectors tomorrow and do a compression test to rule out a valve. :) Thanks.
Injector fault?
Still got no further with my misfire at idle, and high hydrocarbons (Hc).
After doing some research today, Im wondering if it could be the injector at fault? Are these common anyone else had any problems with them before?
The lead going from the coilpack to the plug/cylinder...
