Barnard Castle up to Alston/Hartside café and double back up to Hexham then back across the moors to Stanhope is a great route in the area. (about 85m that)

The resistor pack (actually a rheostat) is up to the top right in your picture, though not clearly visible on that pic. If you follow the taped up wires running along the bulkhead you will come to it.
Unplug the five-pin connector, short a wire across pins 1 & 5 and the fan will come of full...

It's only a quick wash to get the thick grime off..... it normally gets shampoo instead of washing-up liquid lol and a wax afterwards if I have time. Afraid I simply never have hours free at the weekend to spend polishing the underside of the exhaust! ;)

LOL. I keep WATER away from it whenever possible. It doesn't get washed, just dusted ;)

So having put off washing the Clio for weeks, I finally found a spare half an hour to give it a wash. For the detailers amongst us I used:
Meguirs microfibre washmit (oh yes)
One bucket method, using specially-formulated Polyurethane plastic bucket from Co-op
5ml Asda Spring fresh washing up...
I have heat again! :)
Bought the offending rheostat yesterday (part no. 7701051272, "Heater Switch" says Renault's invoice :rolleyes:) and swapped it over in about 20mins today.
Only difficulty is getting to the 6mm nut on the far side of it without removing the other half of the scuttle and...
